How to Replace Turn Signal in Pontiac G6 Convertible 2007 / How to Replace Tail Light in Pontiac G6

Questions:
How do you replace a turn signal on the Pontiac G6 Convertible 2007?
Why does my turn signal blink fast?

Materials:
3157LL Turn Signal/Brake Lamp Bulb – http://amzn.to/2x0DoUL

Tools:
– 12mm socket / extension / ratchet
– paper towel to secure nut to socket so you don’t lose it

Answers:
Watch the video on how to determine if your turn signal is bad and how to replace the bulb.

Steps:
1) Insert the key into the ignition and turn to accessory.
2) Flip your turn signal to the left and then to the right. If both are out they will blink fast. If only one is out only that one will blink fast. If neither are out they will blink normal. While the turn signal is blinking exit the vehicle and check the front and the rear turn signal lights so you know which to replace. If it is the rear turn signal / brake light that needs to be replaced then continue.
3) remove the covers for the bolts as shown in the video.
4) Remove the nuts that secure the two bolts and remove the bolt on the rear of the light assembly as shown.
5) remove the light assembly from the car as shown
6) Remove the light socket from the light housing
7) Wear gloves.
8) Remove the bulb from the light socket by pulling outward away from the socket.
9) Install the new bulb
10) Install the light socket into the light housing.
11) Install the light assembly
12) install the nuts and bolt and secure
13) Test the blinker
14) Install the bolt/nut access covers.

I have that problem in mine in which the trunk does not open using the key fob and the only way I know of to open it is to use some method of disconnecting the battery? (I don't know, I haven't opened the trunk since I bought the car.) However, I CAN open it from the other way by operating the convertible control which makes the trunk open from the other way…..if I use that method if I interrupt the converting process right after the lid of the trunk opens but the top is still in the "up" position, will I be able to reach these bolts so I can replace my brake light?

Thanks for the video, I was about to go crazy trying to figure it out. Something as simple as (3) nuts. I think I'll be able to do it now! Lol.. once again thanks.

Google User GP says:

The term for the fast blinking is called "hyperflashing" and yes, that is indicative of typically a burned out bulb. In other cases, it could be a wiring or socket problem, but 95% of the time, it's a burned out bulb as you have stated here. I have the same car, a 2009 White Diamond Tricoat 3.9L G6. It's important to note that bulb quality varies greatly. The best ones are the Long Life ones from either Sylvania or Wagner. The original trade number in the manual is a 3157K (for Krypton), but the 3157LL is the same thing just on the aftermarket/retail level. In other words, you'd likely pay double for the bulb at the dealer when you can buy a two pack in Walmart for half the price or less. WM has better prices on these bulbs than the automotive retailers, so when I go there, I stock up on them.

Also problematic on these cars is the headlight socket. GM undersized the plug and wiring and it burns out. The solution is to splice and heat shrink in an updated GM connector which can handle more amperage. I just did this on my car.

I have the exact same car with the exact same problem. Thanks for the video. It looks super easy. No way am I going to give my dealer $100 to do this.

Good job, my friend!
