I recently replaced both oxygen sensors and catalytic converter on a Chevy Cruze. Check engine light went off but came back on with code P0420. This code is saying I need to replace the converter again. Any suggestions on what to do?

Ah Umm says:

U Failed Scotty! Most cats are not that simple! Tell them how to handle snapped and stripped studs without a lift, acelyne torch, stud removal tools and a tap and die set! Not mention that the oxygen sensor would need to be replaced too! There is so much that is missing on a topic like this! A rich fuel mixture causes failure too!. Leave this topic to the pros!

Mr. Céspedes says:

Hey Scotty, my ‘06 highlander check engine is on and it’s the catalytic converter, according to Autozone, however I can’t seem to figure out if my car has more than one catalytic converter. I have the V6 3.3L. I was looking for something similar to your video but it’s telling me that it has three ??? Appreciate the help!!!! Thanks

Use PB blaster, not WD-40. I had to use my impact gun to loosen few bolts that couldn't be loosened with the breaker bar. Make sure to replace gaskets too!

I have a 1999 Honda Accord EX 4cyl sedan and I have a P0420 code. Would a clogged or bad catalytic converter cause the car to stall while driving?

anyone got tut how to replace cat on c6 vette?

Johnny5 says:

Thank you Scottie for the temperature gun idea. Ive been chasing a P0430 code on my 98 Sierra 5.7 for months. I tried every Voodoo/snake oil idea out there and I have to tell you they are all a waste of time and money, at least in my case. The temperature of my cat was the same at both ends so I finally resigned myself to pulling it out to take a look. The honeycomb inside was 90% missing so it was having no effect. Thinking back, months before, I had a bad misfire problem that I was caused by a cracked distributor cap. I guess all that backfiring blew the cat right out.
I think we all watch these videos wishing for a cheap or free solution but sometimes you got to get dirty and spend money.

Dan Allen says:

I usually just hog out the bad cat and let the guy behind me smell my stinky exhaust fumes.

Max Lugo says:

We recently replaced the catalytic converter on our vehicle. But now it sounds weird, it doesn't sound as quiet as the OEM one. But the performance has been amazing. Any tips? And the catalytic converter was welded, not bolted.

The ending makes me want to curious on what else you do when your not working on cars.

I drive a 2007 Scion Tc. Is it true that FeliCas and Scion Tcs are the same cars? Like to use this video as a reference.

The Electric Trucker says:

Tip for situations when the bolt head snaps off: On my 20 year old bolts I did what Scotty does here right up to the breaker bar twist, which just twisted the bolt head clean off; sometimes those nuts are completely seized and nothing including hiring a priest can get them off. Once that happens, simply get your drill out and a metal bit the size of the bolt hole and ream that old bolt out.

At Scott kilmer. Would the rear catalytic converter throw the 0420 Catalytic System bank 1 below thresh hold code?
