How to Replace Car Battery – GM Pontiac Grand Prix

I didn’t think it would be this complicated to change the battery in my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, but it was. I had to remove a frame rail and move the electrical box out of the way, just to be able to turn the battery sideways and lift it out. Reinstalling the battery was the same process in reverse.

I know this won’t help a lot of people, but just to confirm if you have this similar model car, yes you have to do all this just to replace the battery in this GM model car.

It's even worse on the GXP model with the v-8. I just did one and it took me about an hour and half in similar weather. Big fun!

it gets easier after 2 or more battery swaps. same battery squeeze as my '08 lacrosse. I busted my latch off of the fuse box door the 2nd time/ going in. Didn't have to undo the fuse box though. I use A.C. Delco.
