Mike Williams says:

steering wheel lifts up and down, but also pulls out toward you! on saturn aura. basicly same car.

steven adams says:

I raised and lowered the steering wheel. I'm not real strong but even with both hands my steering wheel would not budge one inch! I don't think those plugs just pop out as shown either. guess I'll have to hire it out.

Richpin06a Cobalt multifunction switch removal!

Bryan McIntyre says:

Alright since I didn't get a reply this is what I did. I found another YouTube video by Richpin called Cobalt multi-switch replacement. In the video he is in a junk yard and he is removing both the switches from around the steering column. It is a better video in showing how to take the panels off and removing the turn signal switch. I followed his video and removed the panels and my switch easily. I recommend getting plastic trim removal tools at your autocpart store for less then $15.00. Richpin in his video was using a metal hoplostery tool which was tearing up the panels in the junkyard. It wasn't the parts he was after or his car so he didn't care. I used the soft plastic ones with no issues. The Chevy Cobalt and the Pontiac G5 are the same vehicle just different body style. So I hope this helps everybody out.

Doesnt the carbon fiber trim on the left hand side of the dash just pop off ? …Seems it would be easy to remove with a screwdriver. It may give you the clearance you need im guessing.

Bryan McIntyre says:

Thanks for the video. I'm having the same problem with my 2.2 G5 and I have questions since I want to fix it. Did you have to disable the air bag? What needs to be done to remove the plastic panels, unscrew or clip off? Can you or did you adjust the steering column tilt to get the switch out easier? And did you have any problems putting the new one in and how did you do it without marking the dash?

matt leonard says:

why tf does everybody "start" these videos with the steering colomn already disassembled?!

us103 says:

That's a 2.4 G5 GT with a carbon fiber trim. The 2.2 doesn't have that.

Ping Pong says:

I know mine has a telescoping steering wheel but I dunno.

Kayvan Mazloomi says:

just turn the wheel to the right pull it out from the top

Mark Mos says:

Good question how to remove plastic. Other then that useless.

Martha Morales says:

how do I remove the plastic that covers that on the steering wheel?

william bubeck says:

I lowered the steering wheel on mine and it came right out. No more than ten minutes of work.

Clayton Lincoln says:

Would simply lowering or raising the sterring wheel work too?
