Last week I bought a Jump Starter called “Allstart 555 Camo Pro Pac Battery Jump Starter with AC Inverter”.
This 555 Camo starter holds the charge and is always ready to to give a jump to my car; and that is exactly what I bought it for.
And I gladly recommend it to anyone.
Here’s the link if anyone is interested: amzn.to17VA2P1

thankyou very much you made it easy too find my starter issue, that it work then when I tried to start my 2001 venture van there was nothing fuses were all good relays un pluged and plug back in,still, I ran a new ground wire from the negative post on the battery down to the starter and connected it to one of the bolts the starter mounting bolts that gave me and gave me a good ground …and she started right up .over and over .that fixed my problem thanks to watching your video 🙂 tks from Kevin

I messed up a stick shift after stalling it it made a big crank sound and now when I try to turn it on it makes a click sound would it be the starter

bearing01 says:

Make sure you use a low wattage bulb like 12V or something. This will limit the current in the bad/shorted circuit and will prevent you from melting wires and causing a fire. be careful. / John

bearing01 says:

Remove the fuse. Use a light bulb, wire and get some blade style crimp-on wire connectors. Connect the light to the wires with blades on the ends. Plug the light into the fuse socket to replace the fuse. Now if you turn the key there is no fuse to blow. The bulb will limit current but will also come on if there is a short. Start unplugging electrical components and/or moving wires around. When you remove or prevent the short the light will go out.

bearing01 says:

Ign Switches are usually multiple switches in one. One part may go to the starter motor. Another part may go to the dashboard, interior and/or instrument lights or to give switched power to things like your stereo. If the fuse blows then most likely you have a short circuit somewhere. The short could be in an electrical component.

crazyvic666 says:

Whats wrong if your ingnition switch fuse blows out right when you turn the key to start the car

the best teaching video on this subject i have seen, you should be a teacher ( although i think you might be already teacher).many thanks

yamahondarider says:

Could be your benix gear not coming out all the way or you could have missing teeth on your flywheel/flexplate (or the gear on the starter).

Very good video , easy to understand thanks for the help

Rich Bacz says:

All videos on YouTube about fixing starter and solenoid are not accurate, and as such may contribute to confusion. Solenoid has two coils, not one.High current coil, is used to initiate the pull action. It is powered from 12V through ignition switch and clutch/neutral switch. The other side of this high current coil is connected not to ground, but to to starter motor 12 volt terminal, which is acting as ground, because starter motor provides very low resistance to ground, if brushes are clean!

Haydon Cunninghame says:

What if my starter works sometimes, but other times it just spins and makes a sort of crunchy sound?

John Smith says:

Solved, the culprit was a wicked case of corrosion under the battery. The corrosion ate up all the hot wires leading from the battery to the power distribution fuse box. There was a part of the trigger wire that was ate through (coming from the box)and came in contact with the hot wires causing the starter solenoid to be constantly stuck in the closed position. Solution was to splice corroded wires in with new wire from my local auto store and connect them with butt connectors and tape over them

John Smith says:

My trigger wire from battery is constantly energized keeping the starter solenoid always engaged even with the key out of the lock cylinder. With my key in the on position I have to pull the trigger wire after the car starts to shut off the starter. I thought this would have been an ignition switch problem from under my steering column, but I unplugged the wiring harness and it still persists. Any ideas?
