I just performed a fuel filter change on my 308 BlueHDI (Same filter as this car) and only after finishing did I realise the old filter (Not the filter cap) was missing the ~20mm O-ring, whereas the new one had an O-ring. I didmantled the housing to try and find if it had slipped off inside the bottom of the housing but there was no sign of it.

In this video at 2:40, I realise the old filter is also missing the O-ring. Are they absent on the original parts for some reason, or do they just slip off very easily and get lodged somewhere inacessible within the filter housing?

Edit: Just realised in this video at 3:24 the new filter is also missing an O ring. The mystery deepens…
