trying to fix a light issue on the 1983 oldsmobile 98

well I tryed to fix a light issue….. but i did clean up the car and heres another walk through.

,but has the hie ignition distributor with the 5-pin module that has the
external ground wire to retard ignition timing by way of a electrical
vacuum switch.Which hooks up to a thermal vacuum switch on the intake
manifold.

Hey man, I’m assuming you’re talking about dash lights. You gotta bite the
bullet and remove the entire plastic backing plate which holds everything
in place. You’ll find that all the dash lights are fed off of a single
plastic ribbon upon which is a sort of printed circuit. The sockets which
hold the bulbs have metal contacts which scape away the mettalic substance
of wihic this circuit consists. In your local parts store you can find a
kit to repair rear defrost consisting of ….(continued)

exprienced the same problem with the speedometer ,and also broke of the
speedometer needle.Thanks to ebay I located another one and installed it
myself.As far as the speedometer cable hookup I just pulled the speedometer
backing plate forward and was able to connect and disconnect cable without
much problems.I even changed the cluster .

the defog circuit. You can apply this to the areas where the dash circuits
have been compromised, these areas should be visable to the naked eye.
Probably would’nt hurt to hit ’em all while you got it apart. I’ve owned
several of these cars, and still own a nice one. I’ve scrapped several
also, so I seen it all with these cars.
