Rustoring Cars On A Budget. 1986 Olds Cutlass Gets Completed.

I picked up this 1986 olds cutlass supreme not running and sitting for 5 years, the purchase price was $900 and after all repairs of $480 not including labor for a grand total of $1380. it still needs tires and vinyl repaired but the rest of it looks to have come out very well.

Jason Tengan says:

Are the wheel spacers there because the tie rods will touch? Wheels seem correct for that year!

The interior still looks good in that car.

I miss my cutlass. That was my first car. We paid $500 and drove it for seven years and after frustration with my paint job I paid for I ended up selling it to a friend. He then ruined the head gasket or motor and blew a giant crack in the radiator with oil looking like chocolate milk. Then it sat to rot. I never did any major work to it either other than paint. That one was a 79 Calais edition with grey on black which was unique for a cutlass. It had the black vinyl top with bucket seats, floor shifter, round gauges not rectangular and a actual factoryTach. My plan was to fix it up with paint, fix the vinyl driver seat and putting a bigger motor but ended up getting frustrated before I finished it.

you bent it the wrong way πŸ™‚

Randy Potter says:

That's a badass old guy car (American Legion age), would rock that ride as a relatively young man (late 30's). Would put some gentle hp mods on it, daily it.

Paul Burkey says:

Nice car you scored. you can probably find the factory gauge cluster for that dash, its plug and play for the most part, I installed that same dash with gauges from a cutlass wagon in my 79 2 door malibu along with the carpet and door panels from a super clean junk yard doner gota love those 78-87 G bodies

Ivo Biancucci says:

Anyone else notice the gas gauge go down

j6sj7 says:

Not bad for $1300-ish.

Awesome! I just welded the frame of my truck last weekend both sides of the rear wheel well, thus brings back memories of my first car πŸ™‚ great score my buddy

That looked like you were going to Diesel Creek before Matt did up the driveway lol

Darrell W Roper says:

I had one just like it but the inside color was navy blue. I also had a 85 Buick Regal Limited. Black on the outside and inside was Gray. Both cars was super nice. Just a memory now.

Douglas, Hello from Arizona says:

what was it with these cars and all the various hoses. Dang. We had a "bro-ham" Cutless Holiday about 1986 model. It was loaded, Burgundy with burgundy interior .Very similar to what Mustie1 had been working on.
