73 olds 350 rocket . Does point distributor go clock wise or counter clock wise . ?So is the number 1 on the distributor . on driver side front point ?
I have a GM Points Dist. where as the car is running it is making clicking noise. I pulled cap off and even replaced it. The Rotor I also removed, and it was fine, so put it back. Car drives well, but makes that clicking noise at distributor. I have researched the symptom and get people sharing on same scenerio that the bottom bearing is bad. I have yet to pull it out and put another in… But… Point is here…. There has to be some sort of upper and lower bearings (even if sleeved) in the unit. Wish you'd have gone through that situation. I have a couple of extra points distributors here… Now I have learned, if the gear shaft moves up and down slightly, that is fine and normal, but there should be no play side to side… Well on one of them, the bottom does move ever so slightly side to side at the bottom gear side. Please Advise. I can be emailed at ohsean@gmx.com if you wish. Subject if you could just put Distributor. I appreciate any input on this situation, as all I have ever driven as everyday car since 1973 was a 1st Gen Monte Carlo. All stock too.

Thank you! I'm replacing the vacuum advance and I couldn't figure out how that plate moved to get to the screws.
