This is actually Part 13 of our “PAINT READY” Oldsmobile. We have a huge nightmare ahead of us when we find out all the bondo has cracked beyond repairs! It will take alot of miracles to fix this problem.

Great videos as normal Pete. i just wanted thoughts on the issue you had with the reface. i would have said that was more than likely moisture damage by the small amount of orange marks (looked on video as very early stages of surface rust) due to reface not being waterproof and left outside (for 2 months i think you said) even though it would have been covered you will still moisture build up on the underside of the cover (also have airborne moisture) which would make sense with the areas of the car that's been effected (flat areas where moisture can lay on). if a car is going to sit outside for awhile without being touched i would always seal the car up with epoxy just to be sure any filler wont come into contact with any moisture
I unsubscribed while go cause I lost interest in the channel cause of non DIY auto action. It seemed to be more about building a building and less auto body stuff. Now that your getting back Into the swing of things I'm going to re subscribe. That car is a nightmare from hell needs to be crushed and melted down.
Finish it primer and get outta Dodge…
Fix it, move on, be happy…………..
Bondo aka body filler ……… the body shops last resort to camo bad bodywork. Strip the crap off and do the job right
That's fucking brutal pete, nothing worse than having to do shit twice. This is a professional ' worse nightmare and people have no idea how long it takes to redo it all. That sucks.
Sell the fenders on eBay
do it nice or do it twice now get the mother fucker done it happens pete stop bitchin get it done move on too the next one
Should of used epoxy primer first for superior adhesion and corrosion resistance. Let sit for 2 days. Then spray that crap. You can see the polyester filler peeling off the bare metal.
Pete i know your pissed but my bet says you will paint it and it will be right.
All I can do is tell you on house painting – my dad had run into nightmare situations where he would either eat shit and just let the owner have what he put in it and walk away – OR – finish it and take the loss on his part because of shoddy materials and other circumstances beyond his control. And then sometimes the owner after talking with him or her, would be understanding and belly up to the bar, and pay the extra costs. If my dad was alive today, I think my his advice to you would be get it ready to paint – (then as you said) call the owner up, explain the situation and decide where to go from there. Wishing you much luck, My Friend Pete! My dad also had another saying, no matter how bad things got., "it'll all work out in the wash".
Damn the b bro that car Is cursed
That car is just a bitch. Just doesn't want to be restored. What a nightmare this thing is, it's really bad luck to. I remember how much work you put into that car ,working all night to get it done. Its a shame because it was looking good. Poor guy I really feel sorry for you. I'm building an old Mopar wagon that had bondo falling out everywhere and it's a bitch. Take care Pete and best of luck with that shitheap.
I had the exact same problem with the same type of shit, they call it Primer Filler in australia, it only took a few days for hairline cracks to appear and in about a week it looked like the salt flats.
Ground it back to bare metal and stuck with regular fillers, never had a problem since, you couldn't pay me enough to use spray filler now, just not worth the risk
Well that sucks Pete.
tell you what pete i feel your pain iv had this happen to me, im from New Zealand but if lived in texas or close by i would give you a hand as you have helped me out in the videos you post,.
I know MY FRIEND PETE, is tired of this Oldsmobile, by watching the video is making me tired.
Dan pete that fucken sucks ….but I know my friend pete will get er done
is the fixing demonstration on part 2 of the video ?
I here you Pete your not by yourself been there befor brother.
That really sucks! I was wondering what happened to the "paint ready" Olds. You've done so much already and your heart is in the right place, but when will it work itself out? We've all been upset with the job the previous body shop did to it. But what if the car really does resist work done to it so they finally just covered up what they could and gave it back
That car must have been smoked in the front end and fixed half assed and now your trying to fix a fuck up………….Know where your at brother I've been there once with a vette and another with a 57 Jag , both pieces of crap …….but in the end we leave them better then they were at our labor and added costs …………and it pisses me off to see that your going through this Pete when the others that worked on it could not have given a shit they just wanted the MONEY ………………and now because you care about what you do ……YOUR paying for this shit ……..I know Pete believe me I know………….. I think the car ran off the road into a ditch and hit hard enough to bend it where your fitting problem are the sub frame is still out of wack maybe rails bent down, just a guess …………….you gotta do what you need to do to make the gaps some what right , and that is doing cutting and welding or whatever , think custom work as little as possible to make it work ……… wouldn't want to be the next guy to re fender that Bitch……………………good luck Pete
Mother fucker! That's fucken bullshit! Fucking
