So sorry to hear that. It’s very important that all electrical connections are tight. If they are loose it can cause intermittent running issues & it allows water inside the plug which will lead to corrosion. If you need any more help in repairing this issue please call our free Tech Support Line (800-424-7839). Thanks for watching.

This is an E3992M for a 1998 — 2005 Chevy S-10 Blazer.

john taylor says:

which model of fuel sending unit is that he is installing?

jujumonti says:

I changed my fuel pump 3 times, all the time the p, ug was loose..99 chevy blazer, the mechanic never mentioned it..a friend did.

AirtexFuelPumps says:

Glad to hear you were able to find and fix the issue!

War Horse says:

Dropped tank n electrical plugs were corroded n dirty lil vinegar n a toothbrush and it’s working again…THANX!

AirtexFuelPumps says:

The next step would be to check the voltage at the fuel pump connector. You should see within 0.5 volts of the battery. Just because you hear the relay click doesn’t mean that it’s actually transferring the power to the wires. That just means it’s closing the contacts. I would believe you probably have a wiring problem, but start with the voltage check. For more information on it please look at our voltage drop video. If you need further help, please call our free Tech line: 800-424-7839. Thanks

War Horse says:

I have 98 bravada and its doing the same thing I can hear n feel the relay energize but no wrrr from pump so I thought PUMP well pulled off tank n removed pump hooked it to my trickle charger for a sec and it worked ?? Should I start tracing wires for a bad connection?I had a buddy tell me their bravada did the same thing n it was bad wires is this a common problem with these,Could the relay be bad? THANX!

AirtexFuelPumps says:

The first area to check would be the ground for the fuel gauge. Located on left rear frame rail behind rear axle you will find a bolt on the frame that has 2 or 3 wires going to it. Remove bolt & clean connections & the frame with a wire brush. Reinstall all wires & see if this helps. If it doesn’t, you’ll need to remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank to see if the sending unit is indeed faulty. AirtexFuelPumps says:

There’s a chance that it’s the fuel pump but you’ll need to perform some diagnostics before replacing it. Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. It should be 60-66 psi key on/engine off. If it is below this pressure, you’ll need to check the power & ground at the pump to make sure there’s not an electrical issue. Thanks for the great video. I have a 2001 4 door Blazer. For the last few weeks the fuel pump has been very loud. Last night it failed. I have the replacement pump and I will be replacing it myself in the driveway this evening.

Aaron Potts says:

i have a 99 chevy blazer and it will not start but when i put gas in the throttle body it start then then it dies do u think its the fuel pump thats out?

Joseph JohnsonJr says:

You should not that this is for the 4 door. I have a two door and the underside of mine is not like this. I have my spare inside the vehicle, not mounted under.

AirtexFuelPumps says:

Yes, if you hit the bottom of the tank it is more than likely a fuel pump. You might also check power & ground connections to make sure they are not loose or corroded as when you hit the tank you may be jarring them & getting a better connection. If they are fine then the pump is faulty. Also when changing out the fuel pump make sure & clean the inside of the tank as debris in the tank can cause this issue. If you have more questions, please call our free tech support line: 800-424-7839. Thanks.

Barry Ferguson says:

I have an 01, 4 door 4wd Chevy blazer and I have to hit the fuel rank on the bottom just to start. Runs fine afterwards. Obviously not a car guy so this prolly the fuel pump?

AirtexFuelPumps says:

Oscar: It could be a fuel pump issue, but we need some test data to make sure. The first thing to do is to test the fuel pressure. Should be 55-62 psi (Key on/Engine off) for this vehicle. If in this range then the pump is good & you need to look at other causes. If the fuel pressure is below this range then you need to concentrate on the fuel system. If you need any help on diagnosing this or any other issue please call our free tech line: 800-424-7839. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Oscar Garcia says:

My 2003 chevy s10 sputters when starting if I accelerate it stays on but as soon as I let go of the accelerator the engine turns off do you think it might be the fuel pump plus my fuel gauge is not working properly

AirtexFuelPumps says:

Glad it helped you! Thanks!

juan ramirez says:

nice video!!

greenspiraldragon says:

If you take the bed loose be aware that there are sometimes two ground wires on each side. If the ground wire is not connected the fuel pump will not work. Also sometimes the fuel pump has to be primed. Be very careful with the fuel lines the clips and connectors get brittle.

AirtexFuelPumps says:

Thanks for the kind words. We’re so glad you found it helpful!

felton offard says:

Great video. Thanks so much for posting.

Coansnipes says:

You need a new Fuel sender chip, some types of fuel additive erode them. i think they are about 100$ but you need to take the pump out to do this.

greenspiraldragon says:

My fuel gauge isn’t working. I was told I would have to get an entire new fuel pump. Do you think I could just fix that float arm?

bighotrizzle says:

Nevermind i was sold the wrong model fuel pump. Supposed to be a E3992M. I got a E3269M. Silly Advance Auto parts.

bighotrizzle says:

What about the sensor on the old fuel pump? I have a new fuel pump for my 99′ GMC Jimmy and i’m not sure what to do about there being no place for the sensor. Do i punch a new hole for it or do i leave it off what do i do?
