My motor operates but the window came off the little white holder, It’s broken, do I need to order a whole new regulator or can i just order the white part?

1aauto says:

They may be glued in place from the factory. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

oceallaigh2003 says:

nice video, thanks for uploading, one question though, are those white sash clips not supposed to be glued right on to the window? I noticed one was broke off but you didnt glue it back on.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of your videos. I live in Hawaii and I just bought a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM for my son as a surprise when he gets home from vacation. All of these minor repairs that I have done saved me tons of cash. You make it so easy anyone can do it. I replaced my window regulator in less than an hour…OMG! AMAZING! Thank you so very much. Please keep the videos coming.

1aauto says:

The procedure on your Pontiac Bonneville may be different. We do carry replacement window regulators for your Bonneville on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

bkpickell says:

Would this be the same for the Bonneville? I searched Beneville on your channel and this is the video that was in the results. So I figured you put it in the tags for a reason.

1aauto says:

HI Brad, You may want to take the door panel off and make the window go up and down to see if it’s hanging up on anything. If it’s not and it’s a part that you have recently bought from us, then call our sales staff and explain to them what the issue is, and we’ll help you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Brad Lee says:

I just recently swapped this same part and after a week the window rolled down but not back up. When I got home I pulled of the door panel and noticed that the motor was very hot. So now something caused it to overheat. Any ideas on what could cause this or how to fix it? Also the regulator swap was easy thanks to your vid but when I replaced the part up became down and down became up. Was this bad wiring in the part or something I did wrong? Thanks for the videos, huge money/time saver.

1aauto says:

We carry new window regulators as seen in our video. You should be able to get some small bolts at your local hardware store to bolt the new window regulator in place. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Pat Wilson says:

i to have bought the vehicle with a 2×4 holding up the window can you tell me what size hardware it uses or where i could possibly get them also the cover plate is not with the car is that a neccesity item?

1aauto says:

You normally want to use an epoxy. You can pick the glue up through a glass shop or even a local part store.

GTP4lyf666 says:

what kind of glue should be used to glue the sash to the window?
and you post GREAT videos!!!

1aauto says:

You do need to glue them to the window. You might be able to scrape them off.

JM Morales says:

that was a very helpful video thank you.

1aauto says:

We currently do not sell the replacement bolts.

CDubs HasIt says:

Do you sell the bolts that you need to install the new equipment? I bought this car awhile bak only to find the window wasn’t working because someone took out the regulator and motor and put a 2×4 under the window and didn’t bother leaving any of the bolts to do this job. Thanks in advance for any info u may have.

1aauto says:

We carry new sash connectors on our website 1aauto.com with free shipping. I believe they need to be glued to the glass. 888-844-3393

Ronald Ludwig says:

Great video on the regulator but my mine still works – what I need to fix is the pieces that connect the window to the regulator – clips and sash?. How do you connect the those to the cable

1aauto says:

There would more than likely be quite a bit of work involved with doing this.

cierra johnson says:

can you install this to a car that did not originally have power windows? To make it have power windows?

1aauto says:

Expect to spend 2-3 hours doing this in total if you have never done this before.

Ben Gramkow says:

How long did this take you? And how long should I expect it to take me if I’ve never done it before?

1aauto says:

If you’re just replacing a bad window regulator, this video will show you how to do that. If you need to replace the window, once the regulator is free from the window you may be able to pull it out of the top of the door. Sometimes this requires you to remove any weatherstrip that the window may be coming into contact with while trying to remove it. You may also need to angle the glass in and out, in order to take it out of the door and replace it with a new piece of glass. Hope this helps you.

alwazundadHOOD29 says:

will the window come out at this point or is there more work2 do after the regulator is out/

1aauto says:

It might not be servicable , but if it is tha dealer may be able to tell you if you can service it.

luketheasian says:

What is the part that the window sits on? Not the window regulator clip or the metal piece on it, the part bolted onto the regulator clip? And do you know where I could get these?

1aauto says:

If there’s power going to the window motor and the motor’s running very slow, it could be a worn window motor that needs to be replaced. You could also try a little silicone spray on the weatherstrip that the glass slides into on the door, and also put some white grease on the window regulator channel. These two things would help to speed it up. We carry new window regulators and window motors with FREE Shipping on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
