2004 Oldsmobile Alero Ignition key replacement

2004 Oldsmobile Alero Ignition key replacement

This was a little more involved than I originally thought. you need to remove the radio and the cluster to get the switch out but all in all not a hard job. you need a 7mm, 10mm and a flat head screwdriver

Nice job Adam especially since you couldn't get any help from the lady… lol – I have an '02 Intrigue. When I put the key in and start to turn it all the dash lights start flashing rather quickly on and off. The car won't start while it does this. If I remove and then stick in the key many times, finally the flashing stops which allows the car to actually start. I don't know if it is the key, the lock cylinder, or the electronics the cylinder mounts to ? Any clue ?

Thank you for your video. I replaced my switch and key and lock cylinder and this fixed my 99 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The switch alone did not fix the problem. I thought I fixed it only to have the same intermittent start problem. I then ordered a switch and key/lock assembly and this finally fixed it. On E-bay I bought them both cheaper than Amazon where I only bought the switch.

My Alero key won't turn, How can I get the cylinder out, If I can't turn the key to the run position?
I read you have to turn the key to the run position to depress the tab, so I can remove the key cylinder to replace it.
My tumblers are stuck, or my Keys are wore, I did try both of my keys. The key will not turn, like it's jammed up?
