take notice to that “400” if it is a short tail shaft trans , you will notice on the bottom behind the pan it will say th-375 , one olds oddball thing , but don’t worry it is a 400 , just a short tailshaft 400 …just some olds facts to chew on , also stand that clutch fan you have up in the position it mounts to the engine while storing it , used ones will start to leak laid flat like you have it , they are oil filled , most people don’t know that either lol

delmontcrusier says:

The trans is a th350 though I have another project 4dr car that is the twin to this that I am putting a 455 v8 and th400 out of a 69 olds 98.

daddytech says:

Yeah that bigger fan would keep the car a lot cooler running so if nothing else you need a larger fan even if it’s not one wth the clutch on it specially since thise didn’t come with an actual fan shroud to guide the air. Painted covers are period correct if you are trying to keep it all stock There should be Rubber on both top and bottom even on the old caps that’s how they seal has to be there.and you SERIOUSLY need to loom all the wires. heater hose could have been the problem all along

towrecker says:

if that car has a th-400 trans , it will not have “passing gear ” while the cold light is on , and also with it disabled either , if it is still all wired right …

towrecker says:

clean up the chrome with an sos soap pad , it will clean up perfect , then wax them , and it will not come back , but I had a few sets of script valve covers chromed , ever heard of tri cities plating ? the do lots of bumpers , I am sure you have heard of them on the forums …that cap was the reason it ran hot !
