We are going to walk you through a 2008-2015 Nissan Rogue rear bumper cover removal and installation. The process is not as difficult as you may think it is. All bumpers, front and rear follow the same engineering process. There is a set number of bolts, screws, and, or plastic push pins that secure the bumper in place.

The only tools you’ll need are a flat-head screwdriver and a socket wrench with a 10mm socket. That’s it, no special tool, no crazy body shop techniques. Just a couple tools and some elbow grease. If you remove and install this bumper, you can pretty much do it for a majority of vehicles.

The best place to start would be on the wheel wells. There are usually a mixture of plastic push pins and bolts/screws holding the bumper to the frame of the vehicle. The push pins are easiest to remove using panel clip pliers. However, you can use a flat-head screwdriver and pry the push pin out. It can be frustrating at first but you just pop the push pin out. Repeat on both sides of the bumper and be sure to not lose any of the bolts or push pins.

Once those are off, make your way to the bottom of the bumper. You don’t have to raise this Nissan Rogue of the ground. You should have enough clearing to lay underneath the car and take out any pins or bolts. Lastly, open the tailgate and remove the bolts. Once they are removed, safely pull the corners of the bumper from the wheel well. The bumper should fall off with ease. If it doesn’t, go back and check to see if you missed any bolts or screws.

Grab your newly painted bumper and snap it on. Be sure that the bumper clips on correctly to the brackets on the quarter panel. These brackets can break in an accident and need to be replaced. If your bumper won’t clip on the bracket, the bracket may be broken or your bumper is slightly misaligned. Bumper brackets are usually very inexpensive at your local dealership. Once the bumper snaps on, just re-apply the bolts and push pins starting from the tailgate to the wheel wells. You’re all done!
