Well done! I think you are not supposed to touch the glass on the new bulb with your fingers. The oil from your fingers is bad for the glass.

Very simple easy explanation
Those clips are truly idiotic. On our's, the passenger side had more tension or something. Right side was easy. Perhaps too easy, and made the other seem like there was something wrong with it.
The left had some additional extra adhesion. It isn't until you actually see that odd circular holding motion needed to latch and unlatch them that it even makes sense to know which direction to push it in, and when, at what part of the movement.
You can see the intended design. In a perfect situation you should be able to just pinch them together, push down and let go and the whole caboodle should spring back.. But it doesn't work together after years of heat and road grime, creating this need to almost 'wind' the clip on and off one side at a time, like threading a sewing machine or something..
Classic over engineering.
