In this video I show how I replace the timing belt, water pump, auto-tensioner, and pulleys on a 2006-2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 3.8L

Please!!!! I want to warn others. When pulling the grenade pin on the tensioner. The distance he is talking about, the 4.8 to 6 mm is the distance from the aluminium tensioner housing to the pivoting pulley platform . Not the distance that it expands. The total distance the little plunger on the pulley is out of the tensioner until it comes in contact with the thing that moves.
Well, I am making this comment before I maybe blow my engine. Tomorrow everything will fire, wish me luck guys!
I was really nervous to start my 2.4 mivec 06 eclipse after I put it back together…But thanks to this video it fired right up and sounds good…took it for a drive and everything is working…the motor Is at 160k… stripped some rubber teeth on a start….my fingers were definitely crossed…thanks alot for the video
Is this an interference engine? There is a really nice 2009 gt for sale for really cheap, with supposedly a broken or slipped timing belt. The engine is probably destroyed. Idk
Yes I'm going to a prom my car and I'll try to see how I can work it because I don't have this kind of money so I was thinking of doing myself I just want watching the directional how
When I tried taking the crank bolt off it was spinning the timing belt with it. Any advice ?
“But fortunately our bucket catched it all” that shit killed me.
great video Johnny! Do I have to go under the car to change the crankshaft position sensor or can I change it from above? Thanks
Jonny on the spot with this one, thanks for the writeup man!
Hey man, quick question? if my crankshaft jumped a few teeth when I was tightening the tensioner down, can I just pull it back to time?? Or should I go four teeth backwards from time, and then pull it back to time again? Thanks.
mechanic said i need a kit with two tensioners ? all i see are kits with one?
I own a stock 06 GT with 105k, I am curious if you have a similar start up issue, the engine makes a small Top end knock (clacking) noise sometimes after cold starting (not always), run it for about 3-5 minutes restart the car and the knock is gone. The noise when it makes it only goes away after restarting the car after it's ran for a few minutes, if you don't restart it, it will make the noise until you park and restart, It's my daily driver It's done this since 55k any clue what it could be? Wasn't sure if you've experienced anything similar with the 3.8
Did your engine jump time just by a little causing it not to start?
How much do shops charge for this? Water pump, tensioner idler etc.
Hi johnny can you talk to me part number ?:) It's hard to see in the video.
Can they do this at the dealership?
Lmao i love how this pops up in my feed after thinking about doing mine in my 07 gs
I need a makanic like you bro good job
What happen if the timing belt it’s gone? Can the car be fix and back on time ? Anyone thanks
The FSM shows that you set the tension on the timing belt tension pulley by pulling down not up.
Great video I just bought one and it will be great walk through if i to do work in the future
The owners manual shows the tensioner pulley with the eyes in a different spot. Does that matter? I know you installed them on the top, but the one on the manual has the eyes on the side.
How can you tell if you need a new belt
Yeah this just make me quit trying to do mine, I’ll just bring it to the shop
Where did you get the lower timing cover. Mine is shattered into a million shards
Hey man, are you putting the oil pickup tube in danger by jacking the engine up by the pan, if so is there another way around it?
If the tensioner eyes point in the other direction it still works correct no damage will occur.
