Stingray Classic Jr HYDROFOIL Stabilizer Gheenoe Bow Rise Installation FIX! Easy Do It Yourself DIY

In this video, I demonstrate a problem I was having with my Gheenoe. With one person, the boat would lift up in the front and it became very difficult and dangerous to control. This is a 15 foot Gheenoe with a 15HP Johnson Engine.

With two people, it always would stay down in the front, because of the weight. But, one person in the back, the boat is popping wheelies.

This is an installation video of the Stingray Classic Junior. The product was about $50.00 at Amazon or Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.

At the end of the video, we will see how it works and talk about the pros and cons.

So you lost a couple MPH of the top end of the boat, but really those were not usable MPHs, now you should be able to sustain higher actual speeds.

Rodolfo Stragiotti says:

Cuando no tiene el alerón colocado, y la embarcación zapatea, sube y baja, el motor esta muy inclinado. Cuando se la ve navegar bien tiene el motor a 90 grados. Saludos desde Argentina.

Ken Tyler says:

Can I ask what horsepower your canoe is rated for? I have a Grumman 15’ square stern. It’s rated for 4hp. It handles a 6 fine but think a 15 would swamp it.

DoAt South says:

Awesome job on the installation explanation!

Bansheeboat says:

Fantastic upgrade to get the most out of your outboard engine. When I installed mine it helped dramatically with stabilization. It also allows you to get the front end rig the boat right up! Bunny hop action!

Babsheeboatn’ baby! Oh Yah!

There was no HP power loss with the SE 200

Bla bla bla

Macks Power says:

If the motor height was set better you would not lose that speed. Here's what's happening; the motor is too low, applying too much rotational force to the boat and lifting the bow, you put the planing fin on there and counteracted that with a large amount of lift on the stern, trimmed very low and the fin angled down sharply to the rear.. Move the engine up, trim it up a notch so you use a smaller amount of lift and still have the same ride.
When I used these I gained speed as it lifts the hull out of the water for less drag, yet giving more control to prevent chine walking and porpoising at 65mph in a 14.5' boat.

I got same brand. I have a runabout, but the difference the whale tail made was absolutely astounding. Heck yeah they work!

Walter Smith says:

Mounted 2 of these to two VERY different boat setups. 16ft bassboat w 90hp Merc, and small boat w 15hp Evinrude. Eliminated bow rise and porposing in rough water and have much faster hole shots. All this even in a small boat with NO extra bow weight.
I wouldn't put a boat in the water without one of these mounted.

gdog1195 says:

Who the fuck has a 15 on a canoe that's your fucking problem shit

Meleagris Gallopavo, Sr. says:

Is Harley Gheen still alive and kicking?

Tyler Sabelko says:

Changing the height and angle of the outboard would probably eliminate this problem. Most older outboards have a metal rod on the motor mount that will set your angle and riser blocks will change your height. Weighing down the front will also help ride quality in such a light boat.

Leo & Dan Ryan says:

Yeah, I have been using them for many years, and they really help any boat track better and get up on plane faster. Great video.
