SYMPTOM & DIAGNOSIS
1. Rear lights don’t illuminates – Replace brake switch
2. Light bulb warning light on – Replace faulty bulb
3. Lights turns on & off – Inspect sockets & wiring

Try putting led in ! who ever came up with set up with the little disc. Did it without gloves. Thanks for the post. Everyone disconnect the battery first the airbag sensor is on the left side. It say Takata

How do you get the Mercury Grand Marquis to stop squeaking in front suspension on and change everything
You don't need to take out either of the light bezels to change the bulb, just the splash cove. Then slide off the water boot, turn the bulb counterclockwise, replace the bulb, put the boot back on, and the splash cover. Took me 2 minutes.
