Great job. Glad to see that other people also rebuild their harnesses.
Check out my video on full harness rebuild for 1992 Mercedes 300SE..

So is this a really expensive task. Wiring harness? I think I need this
work done on my car. the

@vsandvs thank you, seen your video. impressive work. I’m glad my project
was not that extensive

I like the strategy, I was wondering how I was going to do it! So to
replace the wiring harness do I only replace the wires that go to the
sensor? Super cool dude

QBLHqblh says:

@98070micho yes,MB messed up,A new polymer in the jacket insulation is to
blame in 92-95 after 5 yrs it started showing breakdown in constant heat
(engine compartment) they offered a voluntary recall to some under
warranty. the rapid decay of the insulation was considered “normal” under
the life of that car and usually only surfaced in dry, hot climate, and
non-climate control stored models. I found the connectors from later model
Mb’s don’t have the X’ed wire type and still fit the old sensors

QBLHqblh says:

@zennycam1 it depends you have to find the shorted wire, or the problem you
are having, I discovered the problem after a continual MAF code kept
popping up after clearing it I troubleshot it (cleaned the MAF tested it,
ran it without it, checked my MPG and reset it drove…repeat) and
discovered the problem did some online research and Viola’ if you have
problems fix the problem but these harness are doomed get a new one if you
can. The customer sold the car for $9500. Its still driving around

Carl Fenn says:

Many of the newer type cars are plaqued with electrical and electrical
faults, I have heard of this sort of problem, much of the wiring had become
very complex in some cases two ECU’s fitted, overkill, and of course wires
are much smaller gauge now, I found the most reliable were the 90’s car’s
of all they had the least problems, newer cars have took a new turn, you
would be surprised at how many electrical faults develop after just 15,000
miles, many have go back to main dealers for repairs.

QBLHqblh says:

I pulled the part from a scrap yard I paid 2$ I get in and $1 for the part
I had wire already and used the internets to find the wire diagram a couple
hours of work and it was fixed . A new harness can run into the hundreds
and the time to replace the whole harness will be very expensive.MB used a
new type of insulator on those years later they discovered that high heat
makes them crack and they crumble off leaving the wire exposed to shorts.
