How you get the new spring back on?

Alan .BigAl. says:

Thanks for the feed back. 🙂 The only tricky bit is getting the control
arm back into bracket and the bolt hole line up. When you jack it back up
the spring has a tendancy to push the contorl arm forward. It would have
been very simple if I had a mate round to jack it up while I pushed the arm
with my foot to get it to line up. However, I ended up using a long bar to
lever the arm while jacking to get it in and then used a long screwdriver
to lines. all in all took me 1:30hrs. Good luck!

well done! thank you

Alan .BigAl. says:

It has been suggested that a bottle jack may be better to lift the control
arm back up. As its not on wheels it should not move. If anyone tries this
could you let me know

Thomas Reher says:

excellent, thank you very much for this, my W203 started creaking in the
back, and i am suspecting the springs to be the problem. I’ll take a good
look at it tonight, and may attempt this, doesn’t seem to difficult (or you
make it look easy, also possible).

Alan .BigAl. says:

Even better ride knowing that you did it !..

Alan .BigAl. says:

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to know its been helpful and keeps another
w203 on the road. 🙂

Thomas Reher says:

Changed them today, very tricky to get the bolt lined up again, eventually
it worked with a second jack. The left side was also quite cramped with the
exhaust. To figure all that out took about 2.5 hours, the other side didn’t
even take 30 minutes after that. Very nice how the ride improved!
