Gareth here showing you how to remove and replace your bad Secondary Air Pump on your M272 engine.
The Air Pump or “Smog Pump” is part of the car’s emissions system. This unit will pump air into the exhaust system to help the catalytic converter burn excess emissions during a cold start, thus improving emissions output. An indication that the air pump is not working is engine codes as well as a backfire.
Note: When replacing the secondary air pump, you must also replace relay Part #HEL-007791011.

Just replaced mine on a 2008 c300 but the light came back on relay,valve,and pump replaced. Do you have to clear the code?

Do you guys sell the relay?
i did change it , plus the relay . and after 2-3 months it fail again . Its doing the same sound . Im not sure now what else i need to change so i can solved this issue .
No air pump relay?
Mine is apparently going to fail as upon a cold start, it creates a loud whining sound. It looks easy but I’ll need the tools but I’m typically uneasy getting parts not from the dealer. They just charge way too much for simple things. I have a 2009 MB C300 luxury if that matters.
