same on mine CLK200. Car had only 98k miles. Out of sudden hole in the
rocker cover and Merc kapputt! Shame.
Hi I am waiting for your next vidio on your c230 as mine has started to
make a noise and I don’t want to get stuck in the midle of no where.
It is an embarrassment for Mercedes Benz to build engine that a fundamental
component – timing chain, failed in such a short engine life. Their
engines used to run 300K miles without major engine problems. I owned 2
MBs but they probably will be my last.

James gnugen you said mercedes engines use to last 300,000 miles when? I
own a 1990 Mercedes 420sel that needs a valve job/heads repaired because of
a fault with the timing chain guide rails. The car only had 90,000 miles
when it jumped out of timing. This was an issue with the w126 class as well
as other models.
So how many miles did this c230 have before the break, and when the noise
started initially?

miles did it have? I am looking at a 98 C230 with 149k miles.
I wonder if the chain cir-clip was installed incorrectly…..I’ve never
seen chains break like this, they usually make noise from high mileage
engines from badly worn chain ramps, but rarely break.

Same as my truck – I replaced the bad tensioner – it did crossed my mind to
replace the timing chain – and I was like what hell, its who would thought
these things break. 3 months later it broke In the middle of the freeway-
