Fupabox, So excited to change to my LED! Got the cluster out when looking
at the bulbs I have all brown ones on my cluster as shown in the video!
every single one is BROWN, what do I do at this point? Thank you!

Smoooove says:

Do they ever burn out if so how long because in going to redo the hole
interior on my 98 e320 nice video man

Muditullah Temori says:

Where you but this led bulb
I have 1997 benz c280
Where I can buy it
Please let me know

matt cortez says:

this will be the best guide you will find period. simple . four bulbs. two
top and two sides. one thing I will mention is that on sports(at least
mine) every single bulb is a t5. t10(and correct me if im wrong Fupa) will
not fit unless installed from front side and soldered to contacts . not
recommended. Ive put 16hrs into this project. also if you completely tear
apart the unit(also not recommended , but a must for what I did) for a t10
conversion on all four, soldered in without bases
. you must not tear the ribbon cables that connect to gauges. fupabox plz
edit this as jack dan has hindered my ability at the moment.

I would like to change my Cluster lights as well, but I’m getting very
confused as what to buy wife has car so I have not took out the cluster,
just watched your video and I want to purchase now! I know I need T10 SMD,
but how many?, and the T5 SMD. looking on ebay searched, found them, and
then got confused when looking at your bulb on your video, kept going back
and forth trying to figure it all out could you please help me with the
exact information on both bulbs. I have done all the interior lights in
blue looks great, now the cluster. HELP! HELP ! Feel free to call me
847-596-1178 Marc Thank you!!

fupabox says:

non smd’s may work, but in my experience they are rarely bright enough

fupabox says:

lol….I think white would look great…I’ve done white on my C230 before I
switched to blue…my eyes are extremely light sensitive and blue was
easier on my eyes so I went with it…but white looked really good on the
C230…I can pull my cluster and do it in white to show you if you want..I
have to remove it to check a capacitor anyway,so it would only take a few
minutes to swap them and see…I’ll post the vid of it in the next day or so

William Z says:

Is there a schematic or picture somewhere that will show me the bulbs lit
up when I start the car? I checked them and they all read good but they all
dont light up at start. Also tried to put the leds in with holders that I
had to sand down to work an they didnt. I will wait for the oem’s to come
and do it again.

J Azizi says:

The video will show up once approved by you tube, but basically all the
lights are flashing including a new light in middle like triangle with the
name ODR. appreciate any guidance you may have as a solution to this
situation.

fupabox says:

green ? that’s odd wasn’t your’s yellowish stock colour ? when I tried a
white bulb in mine it was bright white

fupabox says:

My Miata is green as well..the green is easy on the eyes like blue

William Z says:

Heres’ a ? I drove it to Boston yesterday to see RS game and parked it in
the Pru Tower garage which was 85 degrees. Little puddle of coolant on
ground when we came back drove it home 48 degrees out no coolant on ground
this AM. Should I look for a leak or is there a relief valve?

fupabox says:

yes you can….try to find a 3 smd chip t5 .. I know they are bright enough
to illuminate the whole climate unit

fupabox says:

not sure where the switch is..can’t find its location on wiring
diagram..the red/grey wire comes out of the cluster harness

William Z says:

Is it the same buzzer for the lights left on as for when you put the E
brake on when driving?

Bobby G says:

These won’t melt the plastic in the instument cluster will they? I watched
that video from Ken Bergsma he showed where someone put in bigger bulbs and
melted the plastic cluster. I have a 1977 300D w123.

Jake Von Friederich says:

thank you for the response. videos are a big help for diy. i’m new to the
202.

fupabox says:

unlike regular bulbs LEDs have a dedicated + and – end..so if one doesn’t
light up you just need to rotate the bulb holder 180 degrees and it will
work…the odometer light bulb prob. blew out its filament from being
rattled around when the gauge cluster was pulled..completely normal if the
bulb was old and was possibly due to be changed shortly

William Z says:

And they dont mess with the canbus causing errors?

fupabox says:

that’s for diesels..

Stig's Italian Cousin says:

Awesome Video! Helped me out a lot! Just to verify, the 4 cluster lights
consist of x2 T10 and x2 T5 bulbs? I plan on changing mine to a bright
white to give it that new, updated look. And maybe changing the “pointers”
to red. Thanks again! Your videos are great and so helpful!

J Azizi says:

Hi, I tried to mimic you and change the bulbs of my dashboard. All was
working fine, until I tried to change the last bulb for right side turn
indicator. Stupidly, has the switch on when i was trying to change the
bulb. What happened next was a smell and small smoke coming out of the
dashboard.

landocommando8 says:

260K miles! Wow, I have 146K on one and I thought that was a lot.

fupabox says:

maybe overflow from the coolant bottle..if it was a little too full and the
engine was really warm it could piss out a bit of excess coolant..when the
car is cold look under the water pump..that’s where the weep hole is if the
pump is going bad

fupabox says:

I have another video showing how to remove the dash

William Z says:

Should all the indicator lights on the cluster light up when the car is
about to be started? The bulb and the low fluid are not being lit.

fupabox says:

if you want to change the digital temp, clock and odometer, you will need 3
more t5s same as the 2 side t5s in the gauge lighting…the trip odometer
and odometer share 1 bulb so only 3 are required

fupabox says:

hmm..not that I know of..If I find one I’ll let you know..A dealership
should tell you if you give them the VIN

MrAxlingen says:

I tried to do this today, and ended up changing back to the old bulbs.. For
some reason the LED bulbs i bought from eBay wouldn’t light up. And all of
a sudden the light behind the trip og odometer stopped working. Without
even touching it. Any idea? Can the bulbs I got from eBay have done
something?

William Z says:

So the switch in the wiring diagram must be the lights switch? And maybe
when I replace the 2 out warning lights it will work?

William Z says:

Yup. Is there a MB site that will tell me what has been serviced and when(
such as the tranny fluid) if I plug in the vin?

J Azizi says:

. I think something got short circuit. In any case, that day the right
indicator was not working, however every thing else was cool, but this
morning, when i tried to switch on the car, the dashboard was showing wired
rhythm of flashing, almost all lights were flashing. I had it recorded and
the video is uploaded. Please let me know if you may know what could be the
cause or possible solution other than changing the dashboard as a whole?

William Z says:

Do you remember which side of the contacts for the cluster bulbs are
pos/neg? I’m going with white and see how I like it at night. Then I will
do the transmission fluid change.

William Z says:

Just had the bulb out light come on with no bulbs out…wonder if the cold
caused the LED dash to set it? Off when starting comes on when brake is
pushed and shifted into gear. Oh well maybe I will just take the bulb out!
Ciao!

Jake Von Friederich says:

I have a hard time concentrating. 4 T10s? How many t5s? I’m going to
autozone as a early christmas gift to myself for my c230.

fupabox says:

actually my dash is in kilometers 🙂 so that was around 160k miles ..at
200k miles now and still going strong

fupabox says:

usually only the clock, outside temp. and odometer will stay lit for around
60 seconds..the other dash lights should go off with the headlight switch

William Z says:

And do they dim too?

fupabox says:

Are you sure they are working ? the outer edges of the cluster receive some
light from the inner bulbs..the outer 2 could be blown but there would be
very dim illumination from the inner gauge bulbs at the outer edges of the
cluster.. are they stock bulbs or LED.? if LED they could just be not
bright enough..many manufacturers of LEDs overstate how bright they truly
are…if they are stock bulbs, check that they aren’t blackened on the
inside of the bulb glass
