Mercedes-Benz – How to remove / install the injectors – Part 1 | Engine OM651 (Shown on: W204)

To replace the injectors on OM 651, first remove the engine cover.
Disconnect the connector of the camshaft sensor.
Here, an “Injector connector adapter wiring harness” has been retrofitted.
Unclip its brackets.
Remove the retaining clips from the connectors.
Disconnect the connectors.
Replace the sealing ring and housing cover when installing.
Place adapter wiring harness to one side.
Loosen the four nuts on the injectors of the high-pressure lines.
Using a suitable tool, also loosen the nuts on the rail.
Before disconnecting the high-pressure lines, put on gloves as protection against escaping fuel.
Remove high-pressure lines.
Seal connections with stop plugs.
After removing all lines, start removing the injectors.
Loosen the bolt and unscrew it slightly.
Use the bolt as a lever to loosen the injector from its well.
Alternatively, use a 3/4″ Torx40 bit with extension.
Check whether the threaded insert for the stretch bolt is at the correct position.
This is under the cast edge and under the two punch marks.
Also remove the other three injectors.
Label the injectors to assign them to the corresponding cylinders.
The required parts kit is available as of the 4th quarter of 2011 in the EPC.
It contains the injectors, …
… new bolts, …
… new high-pressure lines, …
… a round brush, …
… 4 sealing rings and housing caps for the injector connectors.
Clean the injector wells with the round brush until they are very clean.
If necessary, clamp the round brush into a cordless screwdriver.
If there is a lot of soiling, use a steel round brush.
Here, the bores to the combustion chamber must be sealed with stop plugs.
This special grease is required for the injector.
Apply the special grease in the area of the hexagon to just above the green sealing ring.
The contact surface of the copper sealing ring must remain free of grease.
Remove the cap.
Fit the supplied sealing ring.
Insert injector with clamping claw.
Do the same for the other three injectors.
First only put the bolts in place loosely.
Remove the caps and fit the new high-pressure lines finger-tight.
Note: The black markings on the high-pressure lines on the 3rd and 4th cylinder should be installed towards the rail.
