All the techs work UNDER the lead tech’s or service manager’s certifications. None of the line techs need to be certified. So you got a dozen joeBobs working on your $80k Mercedes.
I would bet that 90% of dealerships in most Major cities operate unethically and dishonestly. I had a Service Manager tell me my Rack and Pinion stearing needed to be replaced during my 60,000 miles service and the cost would be 1200-1600 estimated. That was 40,000 miles ago and still no stearing issues. That was the last time I used the dealer for anything!
Sounds like you work with them
What isn’t he giving the guy who did the estimate hell? The service rep had nothing to do with the estimate. Fucken moron.
myself,i won’t buy anything made after 1975 and only made in the good ol’ USA i don’t need to rely on anyone to do the work they need-i use the mechanic i trust most-ME! i have not had a car in the shop in over 40 years. so enjoy your overpriced ride suckers they will be in the junkyard long before min stops running and even if that happens i can replace the motor in a couple of hours hahahahahahaha
The sun roof is a component of the car….
it will not work so it needs to be replaced….
they don’t fix parts they replace them
Some people feel that dealerships are the best way to go, But what they lack to understand is that independent shops get the parts from the dealer and its cheaper, also labor rates are less. At a Honda dealer a 2012 Honda Civic to replace a headlight bulb they remove the bumper and pull the light off to access the bulb. which takes over an hour. Yet Im at an independent shop and I only remove either intake box or washer tube and Im done in under 5 min and a lot cheaper.
I work at an independent shop and I had a woman come with an Audi A4 that had a rattle. Dealer claimed it was bad suspension and wanted 1200+ to fix. Took the customer for a test drive and within 50 feet I discover that the dashboard is rattling. Its missing a few bolts, Put bolts in and did a final test drive and no more rattle. I charged 45 Even checked the suspension and it was fine. Turns out that Audi took the car apart in the past and didn’t put it back together properly.
I had a ford focus that had a recall on the front springs. they told me that they only replace them if they break. less then two weeks later it broke. The spring dug into the car tire. on the repair slip it said they gave me two new tires for the front but only installed one new tire. This was a ford dealer! I am sure they charged ford for two tires. I asked them about it and they told me it was just a mistake on the invoice and I wasn’t to get two tires.
In Dade County you must be ASE certified to get a county permit to perform automotive repair only in the fields on your permit (license). they do have an apprentice permit for non ASE holders, but they must be employed under an ASE permit holder…..
“Stealership”
Yeah their markup is insane. I would only visit the dealership to purchase parts IF I couldn’t find it anywhere else. It’s best to do the repairs yourself or take it to a trusted independent mechanic.
Bet he filmed this with a potato
yeah, i was about to say… you need “nothing” to work on your/someone elses car
The Ford dealership here in town has always been very good to me, even though most of my cars haven’t been Ford’s.
I would imagine it’s more expensive but it’s always faster than a local shop.
dealerships are useless for any non-warranty work. but they are handy for emergancy repairs since the guys there probably have parts in stock and know what is wrong.
Depending on where you live it could be a State/Provincial issued Mechanics Licence, Certificate of Proficiency, or Journeyman’ Ticket.
Every jurisdiction has their own laws – in general if an UNlicensed “mechanic” does faulty work on steering, suspension, brakes , fuel system the owner of the vehicle and/or the repair person is liable for damages and/or injuries resulting from the repairs.
Unlicensed mechanics have been convicted of negligent homicide,
So what license do I need to be a mechanic? I never herd of a license…
2007……..
never a truer word.
Certified STEALERSHIP.
Use your brain, dude.
I love cameras!
or it was in fact filmed in 1990? lol
well if you look at the upload date it is 2007.
please dont spread your stupidity
welcome to AMERICA my friend were its never about really helping you its all about repeat business.
I love how the rich argue, even when there soo “livid” they still manage to be very courteous even thought the other snobby rich douchebag is trying to explain to him in the least evident way how he was about to fuck him in the ass so hard for $6500 dollars BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
$6500.00! That’s a down payment on a whole new car!
I went to my caddy dealer to fix the sunroof leakage, drain pipe was leaking so they quote me $1300 i was like o.O. So then i ask what i have to pay 1300 for and they said 220 to replace that pipe and 1100 for a liner i was like fuck the liner just replace a pipe. So after the work was done my original liner has dry from the rain water and it was spotless!. Bottom line you always have to go in details because dealer will try to sell you everything they can to make a profit. Ask 7 times then buy!
the techs don’t make 110 an hour. that’s what the stealership charges.
