Hmmm nice vids Kent. Keep them coming. I have an issue with my 97 C230 base
with the key in lock and lights left on chime. Doesnt work. I had had the
cluster out to replace the bulbs with leds but his happened before that.
The chime works because when I put the Pbrake on when driving it functions.
Have a direction in which to send me? Ty!

wayne woods says:

you can buy a new lock for 30-70 dollars online or get a dremel tool cut
around the black cap that is around the key hole then line up the little
hole on top of key tumbler use a wire hanger push in the hole and the lock
will pop out or pay 700.00

Tommy Garcia Jr. Garcia says:

did you have to remove the dash?

trevorpinnocky says:

good looking’ out. I do most of my own simple repairs on an SLK 230 as
well. Dealers hate me, but they’re out of control with the prices they
charge now. You can find amazing deals on parts [from legitimate parts
dealers] on eBay. I’ve done it for years. peace.

Someone attempted to steal my 1994 Mercedes E320 last night by using a long
flat head screw driver (they left it in the drivers seat when they realized
that they couldn’t steal the car). My key no longer fits in the ignition
because they’ve broken it. Would this same replacement system work with my
situation? Nothing else seems to be damaged besides the ignition.

in somthing you good at your very lousy

Drew Michael says:

thank you for posting I have a 1992 and its really hard to remove. I am
buying the dashboard kit for Mercedes since I don’t have a grinder for a
coat hanger. 1992 Mercedes has 2 locking slots vs the one in this video.

Sharon Lawson says:

Yep, Mercedes wanted a minimum of $600.00 for my 1982 300sd-I did it your
way- my total was apprx. $80.00 for parts and of course my hours of
grinding! Thanks a bunch- from Okla City–

Your a genious thank’s!
