One question what wedsite did you find those ribbons?

hchelfman says:

is there something wrong with your camera or am i on acid?

Scott Smith says:

Do you have any cables i could get from you?

Lisa Wakeman says:

The ribbon cables I brought to fix them were wrong the only one that fit
properly was the right hand screen but even that has a few pixels missing.
The left hand ribbon was one wire to big but tried connecting its any way
but that still don’t work

neil holt says:

up the great mercedes vids

Lisa Wakeman says:

I’m doing a clk 320 same dash as in the vid tho when I put it back together
the needles didn’t work on the car when is was all plugged in is there any
reason for is..

balamquitzeramos says:

as you see in the video, set them to 0 and you will be fine!

balamquitzeramos says:

i had to rest the MPH meter

DrBill000001 says:

Hi Thanks, the pixel repair video is really helpful. The trip computer on
my 2001 E320 is completely missing/absent. No MPG, No miles to empty, No
Miles per trip. Do you have any idea what the issue may be? Thanks

ventureelect says:

Fairly good pics with the smart phone.

robertr020 says:

Many many thanks. I just used your video to repair my cluster (2001 E320
4matic). Worked like a charm.

oldsaber33 says:

Great instructions, question, my car(1999 E) has just one LCD screen in the
middle of the display, is the correct ribbon for this car in that pack of
three listed on the web site? Thanks

oldsaber33 says:

Thanks, to follow up mine is heat seal-able, which means soldering; does
that mean it must be heated(unsoldered) to dissemble it?

lobuz2007 says:

about 20 quid on eBay uk, just type Mercedes Ribbon Cables and then you
need to find right model mate

balamquitzeramos says:

@tech1559 A website is listed in the video description.

balamquitzeramos says:

ask if you need technical direction

balamquitzeramos says:

Lisa… please explain

Eedomer says:

Do you need a soldering iron to put the cables on? Thanks.

Lisa Wakeman says:

Need to know so as cause need to be Albee to drive by tonight

Lisa Wakeman says:

And it’s the temperature gauge that doesn’t work wants it back together as
we’ll

balamquitzeramos says:

@scott smith- Awesome! Glad it was helpful and saved you a couple hundred
green backers 😉

Jerbob1 says:

Wanted to add this: getting the pointers off the instruments was very
difficult. Finally had to wrap a screwdriver in masking tape and wedging
the pointers off. Quite concerned that they would break off, but they
didn’t. Whew!

Lisa Wakeman says:

I’ve tried restarting the cluster and that still didn’t work

balamquitzeramos says:

ive never had a problem after that

Jerbob1 says:

Do the other dials pull off like the one you demonstrated?

balamquitzeramos says:

@ Eadamer and Oldsaber; no soldering is necessary to remove the cables, but
if you plurged for the heat-sealable ones then its easiest to use a T-tip
for your soldering iron. The website that sellers cables I think sells
those tips cheap. @Jerbob; I would be happy to repair your for you. Email
me.

balamquitzeramos says:

@SilentServiceCode Lol. I used my smart phone camera with YouTube image
stabilization. Trippy indeed.

Phillip Campbell says:

Good job thanks for making the video and for the link to the cables.

suzie taing says:

I have a ’98 mercedes E320, my instrument cluster LCD screen went out and
it looked different than the video, does it require unsoldering to remove
the ribbon cable? Do you have a video or give us direction on how to
unsolder the ribbon cable to remove it? Pls. advise procedure on how to
remove and reinstall this type of LCD cluster and what type of ribbon cable
to purchase. Thanks,

Jerbob1 says:

So far: first time I did the reassembly, one of the cables was not black
side down. Second time I reassembled it, the temperature and gas gauge
needles were not zeroed. Third time and after installation in the dash: all
three of the pixel displays quit (middle one was working before). Depending
on just how masochistic I feel, I’ll try again tomorrow.

Lisa Wakeman says:

I have got the left screen working with a new ribbon cable the middle
screen I have left untouched because it was working before and can seem to
get the right hand screen

balamquitzeramos says:

all Mercedes modesl are different
