I like that you explain why you are not using the correct oil. 229.5 is
actually what you want that doesn’t have to be mobil 1 and if it is Mobil 1
needs to be their 0w40 product. Other options include castrol 0w-30 or
castrol 0w-40. Anything with 229.5 approval on bottle. It is best to use
these as the mercedes spec is truly one of the toughest specs out there.
Also if you buy the Mann oil filter on amazon it is identical to oem and
then if you use mobil 1 0w40 you can go full service interval. When not
using correct oil like this, it helps a lot that you are only going 5000
miles.
