The car was cheap. I assumed the body was more solid than this, but not
much. I’ve seen this before and have successfully patched up similar damage.
i’ve never really dealt with rust like this before. i’m used to a little
surface rust here and there. i do have some rust i’ll have to attend to on
my mercedes… it’s right around the rocker arm so it could be fatal
eventually. how much did you pay for this car?
Yeah – this isn’t pretty, but it should be easy to patch, as it’s
completely behind the bumper. It’s hidden, so it doesn’t need to look good.
It just needs to be made solid.
your fenders look similar to what mine did, except yours are in good
condition! haha 😉 mine practically broke in 2 pieces where the bumper
rubber covers the fender. and some bolts att the rear bottom behind the
wheel arch were totally gone, eaten by the rust.
yeah, i bought new fenders on both sides, put 3 layers of rust coat and
undercoating, and now a few years later small patches of rust have already
started to appear! its terrible i wont deal with it no more just let it be,
and care for it as long as i can. no fatal rust will appear anytime soon
anyways. i enjoy watching the process of your work since i went throught
basically the same with my ivory white 240D from -83. 😉
