At 2:30 mark he starts to show how to take the caliper off but he is removing the caliber support mount. There is a bolt that sticks out on top and another pin at the bottom that hold the caliper onto the support mount (google "Mazda 6 brake diagram" and you will find pictures with descriptions). Removing the top bolt allows the caliper to swing out and down exposing the brake pads. There is no need to take it off of the car if you ONLY want to change the pads.
