How to Replace Wheel Bearings Without a Press – Mazda 5 3

Replace your wheel bearing without a shop press or slide hammer. Using a Hub and Wheel Bearing Remover toolkit, I replaced the wheel bearing of my 2012 Mazda 5. The same principles can be applied to many other makes and models.

I demonstrated the breaking and removal of the axle nut from the driver’s side, but the rest of the work shown here is on the passenger side.

A socket or a 6-point box wrench would have been better for cranking the high-pressure bolt but my adjustable wrench was pretty good quality and worked just as well.

The O’Reilly part number is 67213. The O’Reilly Loaner Tool program allows you to use the tool for 48 hours. This is important to note because it is a much shorter time period than Autozone or other stores allow. Your local store might not be so strict about it but you should make sure that you return the tool in a timely manner. If you need more time you can “re-borrow” the tool.
