I got tired of fighting my worn out seat belt. It was due for a replacement so I found a new to me seat belt from this website (http://www.autolinkmx5.com/mazda-mx-5-parts-8-c.asp).
They come from non-crashed Miatas that are destined for the track. Because this seat belt was from the UK it did not have a rip stop. This is a portion of the belt that tears when involved in a collision. This slows the person’s movement towards the airbag. When the Miata was originally released air bags were not required in the UK so this replacement did not have the rip stop. This is okay because I will eventually be replacing my steering wheel with an aftermarket one that does not have an air bag. When installing an aftermarket air bag it is suggested to remove the rip stop to prevent the driver’s face from impacting the steel steering wheel!

fun video to watch but it would have been great if you had moved the camera into position so we could see what you were doing. Thanks for posting what you did though, I was having trouble getting that cover off.
