Let’s fix my beater Miata. Keep in mind this car cost $1000, so no this isn’t a professional repair. However, this video should guide you through the basic process of repairing rusty rocker panels (or sills) on a NA Mazda Miata (Mx-5) or similar vehicles. This is my first attempt at sharing a video so sit back and enjoy some sloppy editing and cheesy generic music.

So thankful for this video. It will definitely help me this summer on my car.

Mazda has to have the worst rust protection of all auto manufacturers!
great job looks awesome
Nice work. Looking forward to do the came on my e36
It is amazing what the junk they put on roads calcium chloride with magnizium and sodium chlooride does to vehicles
awesome guide.. makes me feel like I could tackle this project instead of paying some over priced shop for both sides..
Great video and I will be doing this same repair shortly, only thing to add is make sure the battery is disconnected to avoid frying the ECU when welding.
when I ran out of cake frosting I used body filler for my late husband's birthday cakes!
Hey, where did you connect the ground from your welder onto the car?
i think you are the only guy who did a BACK SIDE rust prevention .
i really never understood why people are welding the panels without care of the back side.
but my concern is : when you weld you do not remove some of this material from the back side leaving the metal exposed ? (the mig welds DO penetrate the metal from the front till the back side , heating the back side and removing all the layer of protection from the back side. if it is a blind patch repair we can not spray primer TO the back side , no access..)
