I have the nerve to ask. how did you drain the fluid from the cylinder block? I noticed that only a few drops flowed after removing the thermostat. this is remarkable!

Drew Vinzant says:

Great video, wanted to ask, this just came up on my car about a week ago and this was the code i got, could a low level of antifreeze/coolant be the reason for the check engine light or will it always be the thermostat? Also, how long could you drive a car with this problem, my normal repair shop is backed up and wont get to it for maybe 2 weeks but as yu can imagine… cant really wait 2 weeks.

Spider Rick says:

if you were in my neighborhood, i wouldn't try anything myself.

Thanks Jim! One of the first repairs I did on my Mazda 3 was a thermostat replacement I wish I had this video back then. Really enjoyed the lesson, Jim. Take care!

Hayward's Automotive says:

I've done hundreds of water pumps but I still enjoy watching your videos Jim & you can always learn something new. So was the old thermostat partially open or was it just opening prematurely or did you just chunk it in the trash?

Eddie Martinez says:

Alot of money for parts but what are you going to do . Good job jimmy!
