Lotus Elise Soft Top Repair – why don't things ever go as planned?

In which I attempt to repair the tensioner mechanism on the 2005 Lotus Elise Soft top and the local rodent population finds out the meaning of Karma. We also get a glimpse of the 1955 Beck 550 Spyder which will be featured in an upcoming video.

Apologies for the poor sound quality in portions of the videos, apparently I have fat fingers that get in the way of the microphone. I promise I will do better in the future.

Now the soft top is repaired, I can take the Elise out and do a driving video.

The replacement tensioner cable was purchased from https://www.monkeywrenchracing.com. If you don’t mind waiting, here is the link to get the same cable for less from the UK https://www.ebay.com/itm/VX220-Lotus-ELISE-EXIGE-Soft-Top-Roof-Cable-adjuster-tensioner-Opel-Speedster-S3/201607612470?hash=item2ef0c00836:g:FLoAAOSwEatZhexZ.

Alberto Della Regina says:

I suggest you put something over those adjusters, some sort of sleeve. I've got the same similar replace cable from ebay, and it scratched the paint quite a lot on my car after few months, because the adjusters are out compared to the OEM that is covered in the middle.
