Hi Steve , in the past I have done repairs to Elise clams and been told to use only Epoxy resin as apposed to polyester resin. I am about to do my own S1 repairs and was heading down the road of Epoxy .. polyester is much more cost effective is that the way to go ?? I was under the impression that polyester resin won't bond well to the epoxy used in OEM clams.

Great work Steve..but think of all the additional weight of the aluminium panels! Iā€™m joking šŸ˜‰ , I hope we get to see the top side repair also.

Hello Steve: what would happen if the aluminum panels or parts being bonded had some holes drilled in so the glue can come through and make the bond even stronger,….do you like the idea or think it would work? I have an idea it would be great to do in hidden areas because it would not look as nice,…

I remember my first Fibreglass experience ..i had a 78 Chev van and bought a raised roof and installed it myself ..the cheap plastic windows on it were ugly so i filled them and also added wood strips to attach inner panels to cover and insulate it ( slightly as only 1 " deep ) .. Itchy & Scratchy before i saw Simpsons !!…Dusty and fun learning how it sets up…
Sometines too Quickly! Lol

Super it came out very well

Tom Allen says:

I don't understand why you have bonded an aluminium plate in instead of doing it properly by grinding it back and adding new fibreglass. It would not take much longer than what you have done and the panel will be as strong as it was before

Hi Steve, thanks for another great video. I wonder if you could do a short video about yourself, your background and how you learnt all your many skills, I think many people would be interested. Many thanks from England.
