To me he comes off as slightly down syndrome. Some of them can be very high
functioning in a certain skill……. Good for him tho. An all process
welder never perfects one process. He’s an ok mig welder, an ok stick
welder and a crappy tig welder. It’s ok to say that because he’s a young
man with low experience. Long boring video tho for those with experience.

Another reason your welds could suck… you didn’t CLEAN THE SURFACE. EVERY
time you weld you should be grinding off the rust and/or coating on the
steel.

Absolutely amazing video. I learned a lot even though I am using a cheap
mastercraft 115 v flux core mig. This video should be shown in classes
after the first day of welding. The second day would have huge improvements

I should have watched this video a month ago. I was given a Lincoln 140HD
by my neighbor when he moved away. He said he was a welder by trade. The
140 was given to me with a bottle and everything…complete setup. What a
great neighbor. So I set out to learn to weld…something I had been
meaning to do for a long time. I figured since he was a welder by trade it
would be set up. Well after several projects…and thinking the little 140
lacked power…I watched this video. The section on polarity immediately
made me check my machine. And what do you know…it was set up for flux
core. I swapped the polarity and tried some 14 gauge angle on 14 gauge tube
and darn near burnt through, Readjusted setting as per the guide and
finished the other side and what do you know….a perfect weld. No longer
cold and high. Thanks a bunch. I now need to re-weld a few joints on my
project…a waverunner dolly.

I bought a Hobart 125EZ after watching some of your videos (sold me on
Hobart). I want to build an open-trailer for hauling trash (contractor),
and I was wondering what your thoughts are on that. It says the 125EZ
flux-core welder is rated for 3/16 mild steel, and I was planning on
building the trailer frame out of 1/8″ thinking, if it is rated for 3/16
single pass, then surely I wouldn’t have a problem with 1/8″? Thanks for
any advice.

Hi chucke2009, I bought a Lincoln mig welder at a yard sale for 100 bucks
the guy said it worked but the wire feed was mest up I basically ignored
that and still bought it for the price lol, when I go to weld though the
wire will come out for a second then stop for another second and then come
out again then stop again back and forward this keeps happening do you know
what it could be and how to fix it ? It’s an electric machine btw the kind
you plug into the wall

Question, I just purchased my first flux core welder or mig welder (No Gas)
from eBay can’t seem to get it to work eBay seller was no help and manual
was crap. Problem am having is am getting to (arc) or spark when I press
the trigger all it does is feed the flux wire, through the gun is it a bad
tip or a ground issue am new at welding would appreciate any help or
suggestions. thank you

Wire speed, on a constant voltage machine, changes AMPERAGE/burnout rate,
whereas voltage changes puddle fluidity.

Pretty good video for beginners, but a slight amount of misinformation.

You can’t drag the torch. If you drag it you’re simply making the weld just
sit on top of the metal. You’re also not directing the gas in to the weld.
You push it so your digging in with the wire therefore penetrating the
material and the gas is going directing in to the weld. Sorry but don’t say
something if you don’t know for sure. I’m a qualified welder for jcb by the
way.

Now I’m confused. My problem looks like not using gas in this video (and in
fact I’m not), but I’m using Lincoln InnerShield flux core, which isn’t
supposed to need gas. he didn’t mention what wire he was using.

Can you show how to weld nuts to the back of a dash? I hope to spot weld
some nuts to the back of my dash and use bolts to remove my gauge pods
easily out.. :)

nice job matey very much improved from your last attempt. just one thing
you should take into concideration when welding and then teaching others..
a welder is responsible for his welds in a court of law! for example if
your weld fails and hurts some one you are liable! if some one you train
has a failed weld and he says hey look such and such trained me you may end
up shit creek without a paddle and possibly jail. welding is a trade for a
reason and if not done propperly is potentially dangerous and life
threantening. so be cautious!

my top tip for you is get a 200 amp welder as your start tool as anything
less is just not powerful enough to learn propperly. and 200 amp is bare
bare minimum. it should allow you to weld up to a maximum of 12 mm plate
steel with propper prep work.. and all preps should be 2/3 of the material
thickness at about 30-35 degrees.. this allows you to put a small root
weld in of about 4 mm then you can cap it off propperly and have maximum
strength and penetration this also warms the material for you and preps it
so heat can conduct better into the material giving you better penetration.
and all ways push your weld pool and never drag.

I want to get a welder of some sort and start finishing half completed
projects. Generally small things like bike frames, car parts, 2in metal
piping. I really don’t want to take the school course because it seems so
unnecessary (I know it would be beneficial but I don’t have a free class
period to spare) and a grandfather of a friend is the head honcho of a
local welder’s trade union. So somebody please put in a bit of advice to my
comment so I don’t waste time buying wrong things. I’ve recently considered
even building a two-transformer Arc welder from some YouTube videos. Thanks
guys/gals :)

Great video. Even you worst welds you do look better than mine. Mine look
like a pigeon has flown by with metal diarrhea. What would suggest if I am
getting fireworks at high amperage close to the weld.

So, you have no idea how to weld but you are posting videos on how to weld?
You do know if you weld something for someone and that weld fails causing
harm to anyone you can be charged? You might want to think about what
you’re doing before you get yourself or someone else hurt and or killed.

Thanks for the vid. I’m waiting to head to trade school for welding, and
received a MIG for Christmas to start on and practice. I always like to
look for “what not to do” with anything I do, because chances are, you’ll
do it. Your vid of showing and explaining with results is fantastic. I have
a cousin who is a welder who will be helping, but always good to get a
different viewpoint.

Great vid!! I’ve been stick welding for years and years and finally
decided to learn mig to do body work, exhaust, etc…which is near to
impossible to do with an arc welder as i’m sure u know!! Thank u sir!!

i agree with the wire speed and heat and back to push or pull a small tip
that works for me is fillet welds usually work better pulling but a bevel
works better for me pushing because not only does it flatten your bead but
enables you to see the line and stay on track

Fantastic video! Lincoln Electric made one very similar, but this is much
