HEY ERIC does A/C ever get overloaded like when it’s really hot outside.
Mine works great now but yesterday it was about 98f outside and it quit
working. I checked all the fuses and they were all good. Clutch maybe?

carabela125 says:

Can you use an inert gas to leak test? Like nitrogen or argon?

TruckTechTips says:

Eric, I don’t use manifolds to recharge an A/C system so I’m not so
familiar with them but I couldn’t see a shutoff valve on the yellow supply
line. Between disconnecting the vacuum pump and connecting the refrigerant
can how did you keep the air out of the supply line or purge it before
charging? In the case of my robinair recovery/recycling station it auto
purges air from itself and of course vacuum goes straight to oil injection
& charging without disconnecting anything to allow air in. Perhaps it
would be good to install a new hose with a ball valve on the end?

One great video for me. I feel confident to buy a set of gauges .
You are a great instructor. Thanks for sharing.

Andrii Ostapchuk says:

Eric You are the Man! I wish all my teachers were explaining so easy to
understand as You! I was asked If I can find a leak in A/C on GMC Arcadia.
Piece of cake!:)

Jim Brydges says:

Hi, My a/c blows very cold air, but then it blows warm air. I checked the
refrigerant and it reads full.

getting ready to tackle an AC job on a early 90’s s10 pickup. the question
I have is about the compresser. when I turn the AC on the clutch
keeps engaging on and off every few seconds. what does this tell me about
the compresser or the system?

prydonian460 says:

Great video . If you don’t do auto repair as a living you should. Thanks

The Headless Horseman says:

Got a fast leak in my suburban looses refrigerant in a matter of days. Put
dye in and everything is ok but I have dye all over my seats and door
panels and vents. What do you think is causing this

Craig Oliver says:

Its 88 today. Im gonna have to do it. On my way to Harbor Freight..

Rýán Túçk says:

Don’t forget to put compressor oil in your vacuum pump.

Vladimir Lomayev says:

tools used?

Emil Jansson says:

when you are searching for leaks you put vaccum in the system. fill upp
with nitrogen to atmosphere pressure. then you fill up to half a bar with
134a. thats the humane thing to do… dont use dye in the system

revelationoftheminds says:

use nitrogen…dye and adding freon is expensive

The Headless Horseman says:

Eric I replaced my evaporator core, ac lines and condensor in my suburban.
The low side hold vacuum just fine but the high pressure leaks out almost
right away. Please help I am so frustrated with this.

Mark Trojnar says:

Great Vidio, well done.

Govindarajan Jayaraman says:

Wonderful video, i liked it very much.It is ex termly difficult and
headache to find the leaks. My car ac mechanic, released the refrigerant
and then pumped ordinary air into the ac system. After that he poured the
soup water over the ac pipes to see whether there are any leaks in the
system. Then he released the air and then pumped in the refrigerant.

luc-alain de haes says:

there is a better system to find leaks . Vulcan System whit a pressure can
93 % N and7 a3 % H2 connect this to the AC fil nippel DON’T run the motor
reduce the pressure to +- 18bar Wait at least 30min !!!(so the h2 is in
hole the system) and snif the system whit the Vulcan snifler whit a range
of 2 particles per million. The clou is that H2 is the smallest molecule
and goes thru the smallest hole .search and look at Fb. Cvo kempen
koeltechniek ;)
