What is the cost/Man hours to repair???

What if a mechanic tells you that you need to remove the engine??? Is that accurate???
Would Ford remove the engine???

Is there anything that you would replace as a preventative while you are in there that is cheap but worthwhile
to do while you are in there?????

Dennis Goodrich says:

Not made to be easy serviceable! This was also true in the past, however. I recall being told that there were two recommended ways to change spark plugs on a 70's era Ford. The factory way was to remove the engine. The Chilton's way was to remove front tires, use a cutting torch to make slots in the inner fenders. Replace plugs, then add rubber from an old innertube to shield the engine from wheel spray. Caravan's with the large V-6 were are really bad for the rear plugs. Yes, the design engineer should have to do the job themselves just to find out what trouble they have created.
