Simply excellent video. I’ll be doing this on my 1978 Lincoln Mark V. I
wish you made a video about doing the brakes! You are really passionate
about doing a good job. Keep it up.

What oil do you use in historical vehicles such as this?

cool learned alot

For the W126 (and W108), I use either Mann or Hengst. Based on used oil
analysis, these filters appear to provide adequate engine protection.
However, I’m not aware of their beta ratios so it’s difficult to determine
which filter is more efficient. The filters are probably standard 40 micron
filters, judging from the media composition. Upon visual inspection of the
used filters during an oil change, I have never seen any defects or
failures with these brands.

Ah ok. Upload time is actualy fast for a 50 min video, what are your
computer specs? I doubt my main pc do do this…

shadowrider460 says:

Thanks! It feels great to have some nice fresh oil in that big 460. It was
long overdue. Nice Mercury by the way. 🙂

lysippus says:

the lincoln and its 460 is a great motor and car. (a bit long on the filter
stuff though. im starting to gather your line of work-
oil/grease/sump/drains/filters/etc.) thanks for the informative video

Great video!

shadowrider460 says:

I don’t do anything fancy for these videos except just run the camera on a
job that I already have to do anyway. Plus, I don’t have the time. So I
only get one shot at it with no editing since I’m not going to “un-change”
the oil so that I can start over from a mistake. So I just import them into
Movie Maker and hope for the best. This video was 1.8GB in size and took ~2
hrs. to upload with my current cable connection.

One thing i forgot to mention, I have the OM603 straight six turbodiesel,
does the oil filter choice still apply?

Ben's Collection and Sundry says:

How can your computer render a video as long as this? What are the file
sizes?

benzlover55 says:

what is the best oil filter for a w126 merc in your opinion?

shadowrider460 says:

I don’t know what would give you that impression. 🙂 By the way, check out
the new video of the oil/filter change on the 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8. 🙂

shadowrider460 says:

Yes, though the filters for the Diesels are usually larger than the ones
for the gasoline motors. There is a little bit less variety in vendors to
choose from for the Mercedes cartridge style filters as compared to the
standard spin-on filter types. However, more and more auto manufactures are
switching to cartridge style filter designs to reduce weight and lessen the
environmental impact from spent filters.

Thank you!

Thanks very much!
