Tool List: 10mm wrench, flathead screwdriver
The 12 volt battery in this 2016 Lexus IS350 is located in the engine compartment. Although this video may provide you with the basic procedures, we recommend that you check with the vehicle manufacture’s step by step procedures found in service/repair manuals for the vehicle you are working on.
Even if your vehicle did not come with an AGM battery, you can upgrade to an AGM battery for up to 2x the life. AGM can be found at most retail outlets. You can learn more about AGM here: https://www.autobatteries.com/en-us/battery-technology-types/absorbent-glass-mat-agm-battery
The use of a memory saving procedure will keep the memory alive on the vehicle’s computer during the battery replacement procedure. Referring to our Memory Saving video will provide you with various memory saving procedures that can be used according to vehicle manufacturer’s requirements. https://youtu.be/vSP3ShcaFgQ
Some late model vehicles must have the 12 volt battery registered with the vehicle’s Battery Control Module or Computer after replacement. See these videos on Battery registration and coding for more details on the procedures at https://youtu.be/TGKohKZHzr0 & https://youtu.be/cxOK_DczRGg
Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working with or near batteries.
Very detail! I will try it later.
I can’t find a video for a Lexus IS 300. Would it be the same as this for the 350?
Accurate and concise.
I did this for my 14 is350, and the moment i connected the negative terminal after I connected the positive, my car alarm went off. Is that normal?
Thank you for this. What a pain in the ass it was getting the cage off, took me forever to get that clip off.
Thanks for posting this, those clips were annoying nor would I have been able to take them off without this vid. Thanks
how do i tighten the hold-down bracket? i installed a new battery but the horizontal bracket is loose on the outer vertical bracket where it hooks under
Just changed mine 2016 Lexus IS 350 Fsport Battery today. Got battery at Costco 99$. 3 year warranty anyways. Dealership want to charge me 236$. Video very helpful. The clamp in back I wouldn’t know if didn’t watch this video. Also I didn’t use memory saver or anything. Just car off and replace then car on. First start it will auto shutdown. 2nd start it will reboot everything and normal. My radio presets and hud display and phone connect all normal.
Did use jumper cable?
How critical is the secondary power source to keep the computer memory intact? What if you need to replace the battery on the side of the road? Can components malfunction if this is the case?
