Lai Nguyen says:

sorry guys but you should not remove negative terminal first! thing may spark if your wrench slips against anything grounded. This is the safest way:
Remove battery: Negative(-), then Positive(+)
Install battery: Positive(+), then Negative(-)

Why my car start and then engine shut off after few seconds. I guess maybe because of disconnecting the battery without backup power? Do you have similar problem sir after battery replacement? Doeas it reset the engine setting? Pls advise thank you.

Jerry Webster says:

Shouldn't you remove negative cable 1st? Grounding the Neg side during removal has no effects. Grounding the Pos side when Neg is still attached has much more dramatic results.

Rcsquared Inc says:

So you don't need an Auxillary battery so it saves the information?

Rob Branca says:

Any idea about resetting the computer.

Subaru STi says:

Do need to plug in a device into the OBD 2 and the 12 volt outlets to retain the security on the radio, security system and computer.
Some cars will think its stolen and won’t start.
