How To Change The Spark Plugs In A Lexus GS350 and IS350

In this video I show you what steps I took in order to change the spark plugs in my wife’s 2013 Lexus GS350 AWD. This video should also be helpful for all owners of 2013′-2017′ IS350’s with the 3.5L V6 engine. This is the same engine found in the GS350. Changing the sparks yourself can save you between $350-$400 and this service can be performed in under an hour. Let me show you.

Hi Dan, thanks for your video! How many miles on your car to change the spark plugs. I've 2015 GS350 with ~80000 miles on it. I feel like it is about the time to change the plugs.

Influenz says:

Do I need to replace any of gaskets when doing this?

Wesley Blakemore says:

I did the repair and got a check engine light. after re-checking all the connections, and hoses i went to Autozone and had them look up the code to see P0348 which says generic "camshaft position sensor "A" circuit high input bank 2." the worker there told me they just do that to basically make sure you go to the dealership. I didn't have the code before, has this happened to anyone, or does anyone know how to fix it?

Blue Pitsky says:

Man they was chargeing me a lot at the dealer damm

Hall House says:

Blow compressed air into spark plug hole before removing plug in case debris is in there.

Hey Dan, I just bought this Lexus from my brother and I want to say that a good 60% of that decision was made thanks to your videos on you working on your wife's car. I will be more confident taking care of the the car thanks to you! I owe you a beer, or set of spark-plugs lol.

Mike Schiavoni says:

The 250 requires intake to come off to change the drivers side plugs. Gerr!

Bl5deRunner says:

Changed mine out this weekend. Easy enough, video explains it well. I’m pumped, just saved myself $600. 12 hours later, CEL lights up, I get an EVAP code (P0411) and my alternator just took a dump (battery dead as a result). My guess is that I may have crimped/pushed/pinched a wire(s) when doing the change. Can’t be coincidence that I’ve never had a single issue with this car, then the day after I do the change this happens. Anyone else have this issue? DIY Dan..what say you?

rawjor says:

Hi Dan,

do you have to use a spark plug socket? what is preventing the sparkplug once its loosened from not coming out? does your socket have some sort of magnet or friction sufrface to ensure the spark plug doesn't slip fro mthe socket face?

thx

Hello, I have a 2013 GS350 RWD with 90k miles on it. Do you recommend changing the spark plus now?

Stinger Gaming says:

I have a 2008 gs 350 with 160k miles and decided to change the spark plugs. I torqued them to 15-17 ft lb. After i started the car there is a huge knocking noise from the engine. No check engine lights or anything. I even test drove it for 5 minutes but the knocking sound didnt go. I removed the engine cover to see where the knocking noise is coming from and its from the spark plugs itself on both sides. Any help on this? I will try to remove them and install them back in once again but if this happens again?

gee gee says:

So it’s 17$ per plug

Quan Truong says:

Hi did you have to add anti-seize compound on those new spark plugs?

Quinton Turner says:

Nice DYI! When I saw that duck tape I screamed lol.. They make a socket wrench with a magnet and one that won't back off even with the extension. Anyhow great vid thumbs up!!

iam Moetic says:
