Thanks for posting this video. It helps a lot. I changed the right rear door actuator myself and it was not so difficult. I also have to change the right front and left rear. But the front ones look more difficult because of the door handle procedure, removing the levers and window track is another step for sure.

John Cevetello says:

Hello what would you estimate the cost to have a independent audio mechanic replace this component?
TIA

Charles Alter says:

My wife has a 1998 GS-300 with only 85000 miles. The key remote quit locking the driver's door. Watching videos, I assumed my problem was the door lock actuator. Prices for part ran $75-$185. Miraculously, I found one on Ebay for $10.55! I figured there must be some catch, but for that price, I could risk it. Once received, I followed your video a few seconds at a time performing each instruction exactly as you explained (making many trips between computer and garage). I was somewhat overwhelmed as I'm not a mechanic, but repeatedly going back to your video, I was able to install the actuator successfully and it works perfectly! Entire job for $10.55!! I figure a regular mechanic would have charged $400-$500 for this job including ordering part from Lexus. I'm so thankful you provided this video!!!

The phone ringing at 2:58 really fucked me up. Sounded like it was coming from behind me so I had to pause the video to make sure the sound was coming from the video.

Ceejay Tyler says:

My remote want work now after the door lock actuator was installed on the passenger door, but was working perfectly before installation, but the locks function i know you mentioned if it’s not probably secured?

Thanks for the great video, I was able to replace all 4 actuators and repair the actuator cables. Quick question though, my car now unlocks twice every time I use the power locks or remote. The remote also doesn't disarm the alarm when I unlock it. Any ideas?

Spot on … that Asian guy lol removed the window to do this , and what you say at 10:00 is exactly what is happening on my Japanese Toyota Crown Athlete VX , the remote sometimes works sometimes it wont , sometimes the other doors lock the driver door stays open…I'm pretty positive it's the same mechanism (although not opened to see it yet) as it's a luxury RWD sedan of the same period , handle seems identical also…

What is that wire call that's connected on the actuator mine got pull out of the pin by the window and wanted to know how I can get a replacement or rettach the wire to the pin somehow ?on the video is at 7:17 the black connect where can I buy a new one or how can I fix mine

mike h says:

Also the previous owner must have reinstalled the factory trunk lid light and left the wires hanging in the trunk. Where should these terminate to get the dash brake warning light to go out and operate the light?

mike h says:

Mike, thanks for the vids. New subscriber. I bought this car a year ago and getting around to trying to fix things. I ordered the motors and just changed that on the passenger door. Now my key fob works and the electric switches work but my manual lock is tight the first time i lock it each time i use the key to lock and my key will not unlock the door manually. Any ideas why this may happen? Also i couldnt move the cable by hand the way you did. Like im fighting the motor maybe for some reason. Thanks. Looking forward to checking out your other vids. I want to do those dash lights.
