[Land Rover Discovery/LR 3/4] DIY Hood Blackout – Plastidip – Trial & Error – [HD]

[Land Rover Discovery/LR 3/4] DIY Hood Blackout – Plastidip – Trial & Error – [HD]

I thought I would be a guinea pig for anyone who might be interested in this process on the LR3/4 platform.
Key reasons:
– Minimize glare
– Reduce brightness
– Fatigue your eyes less
– It looks awesome?

You’ll need:
– Prepped/Cleaned Surface
– Masking Tape
– Spare Newspaper/Masking sheets
– 4+ Cans of Plastidip
– Lots of Time

Regarding Pie For the People… it is the best, tell ‘em you want the Dos Mateos special pizza off their secret menu… thank us later.

The mask provided more pushback than other reviews/tutorials I’d seen, perhaps I should have removed the mask prior to the paint drying, or should have let it completely seal, but I unfortunately have some rough edges.. either way, here is the finished product.
The worst was the passenger side mask, which did not stick very well, my short fix was to spray an additional coat on the area that has been uplifted by the removal of mask. This modification is ultimately about function, though… so it will still serve its intended purpose.
Overall, it was a quick, easy, and fun summer mod that will help reduce that ol’ sun.

Tell me what you think, or if you have any suggestions about success/failures you’ve had using Plastidip? Thank you!!

Music is: Dexter Britain – “Summers Coming” & Hot Fire “Them Never Love No Bans” – Both sourced from CC/FMA.
