Since it has to make a contact I am surprised that you bolt down the 2 internal contacts before inserting the plunger (which is what they have to make contact with). I would have thought you would squash the plunger down with the internal contacts loose then nip them up, to make sure things are square. Anyway. What sort of torque to nip the 14mm contact bolts up – the threads have high copper content so any over enthusiastic spannering will shear them?
£1100 for a service kit??? Where a brand new starter motor from Land Rover is £560 plus VAT??
Think I'll look elsewhere cheers…
