Hi, In this episode, we show you how we replace the serpentine belt of our Land Rover Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Puma. An easy DIY maintenance operation. If you own another type of Defender, this operation should be very similar.

Here’s the equipment needed for changing the belt:

1x Screwdriver
1x WD40
1x 36 wrench & a hammer
1x 10 wrench
1x 3/8 wrench

One important tip is to TAKE A PICTURE OF THE BELT PLACEMENT before you take out the belt. Like this, you won’t have any problems putting back in place the new one.

Enjoy! And don’t forget to add a thumb up, subscribe to the channel, turn on the notification bell, & share this video.

More Defender maintenance, Defender repair, travel, and gear videos are coming.
Thanks for watching, talk to you soon!

About Off-Track Family:

We are a family of 4 with 2 children. We are overlanding for years now on wild tracks in our Land Rover Defender 110.
Our expedition vehicle is a Land Rover Defender camper conversion. Some people say it’s more like a bug out vehicle but for us it’s the perfect 4wd off-road tourer with best 4×4 camping set-up.
We bought this 4wd rig brand-new in 2009 and the engine is the 2.4tdci Puma version. We transformed it time after time in a real overland 4×4 touring camper and it’s now a perfect off-grid truck for wild camping, bivouac or simply as an overlanding Defender.
We love enjoying time in nature and exploring the world as a family.

Keswick Tours says:

You actually don't need to remove the fan. There is a yellow marking on the fan and when you position this marking to the belt tensioner you can release the pressure from the belt a shown, remove the old belt and install the new one. I have done it twice already after about 90.000 km each.

radiator0 says:

Thanks for the upload. How often should you change this belt?

David Woods says:

With the fan and shroud removed, take a look at the overall condition of the radiator for small leaks, and consider blowing out any bugs, seeds or other contaminants that may have clogged the fins.

Marco Savio says:

Having purchased a previously owned vehicle this is one of the areas I was concerned about. I suspect it is still the factory fitted belt so I am very pleased to have seen your video on how simple it actually is to change. Thank you for the well formatted instruction.

Philippe Voordecker says:

Thanks . Interesting for the picture to take and sense to unscrew the fan !
