Just done mine full length on the left hand rail , its the exhaust heat causes the chassis to rust ,hot then cold with water etc ,i have a galvanised chassis in the back for next year, good work

Hi where did you get the red oxide from? was it hammerite or rust -olium ? thanks

jack fisher says:

Great job Dan

DingleZilla says:

Tidy job young man. I would use Black Jack DPM by Everbuild. It's a bitumen waterproof membrane that does't go solid and crack like underseal. Red Oxide is brilliant but you could also consider these two great paints, Fosroc Galvafroid (cold galvanizing paint) or Zinga, which is also high Zinc content paint. You would get a better weld with an Argon mix gas instead of CO 2. I presume you wire was 0.6mm ER70S-6 mig wire. I may be working on a Land Rover Discovery shortly which might feature on my channel? And you may come across my Land Rover Discovery videos, Diff Locks Last Stand being one of them! All the best from a windy and wet North Yorkshire!

Chassis black always looks better. The problem with silver is it just shows the dirt, and if you're going to see it, it will just end up annoying you. Nice job with the welds. Always bugs me when welders do chassis or floor repairs and don't grind away the welds.
