=) I used an adjustable wrench all the time!! But i like your idea =]
I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
In my 30 years of messing around with cars, I’ve rebuilt entire engines and transmissions, so nothing is beyond my reach. But when you take a general purpose tool and modify it to do one special task, you’ve created a special tool. I have a bin full of such tools I’ve created over the years. A more accurate title would have been “…using an inexpensive home made tool”.
By using an angle grinder on a cheap wrench to widen it a bit to fit over the vc? If that constitutes it being “special” then this job may be a bit beyond your reach.
Umm, excuse me, but you just made a special tool, didn’t you?
TY for the video Really great, I already knew the trick But you make it look so easy. OK now for the more interesting stuff… do you know anyone who has changed this over to a TDI engine? I have always thought about doing it. I figure I would just register it out in the sticks where they don’t do emissions. OH how I would love a diesel discovery.
there is only one place the wrench can go!
Must remember we are rookies…you must show every detail!!!
Shouldve angled the camera to see where the wrench is placed on the car thats why Eric the Car Guy and Scotty Kilmer are the best.
Do you think it’s that easy because his serpentine belt is still on? Holding the water pump pulley in place?
Is it only this easy because the serpentine belt is still on? I feel like if i did this, the water pump pulley would move with it.
Mate, your a dead set ledgend. This video just saved me alot of time and frustration!
Thanks!
would this work on a ’97 discover?
Worked perfectly for my ’99 Disco 2.5 TD5 as well. just used a heavy adjustable spanner, though to get that on I removed the topmost 10mm bolt on the plate. One tap and that was it. Point to note is that the Disco 1 uses the opposite thread.
No diesels(at least legally) here in the states.
perhaps works for that V8 but you wouldn’t get the fat spanner on a diesel. The proper spanner is designed thinner for a reason.. good video though!
Tell Luke thanks please
